it's coming together:

i even have particulate filters

also a box fan with a 20 inch furnace filter that gets sucked in front.

THAT pulled in a surprising amount of dust. going to buy several more of those combos... effective!

finally, i'm putting together an outfeed / assembly / etc table. if it works well, i'll make two, possibly on casters...

the table saw is fulled assembled, barring aligning the ripe fence, and slapping a blade in there... first wood soon... the table top was made with powered hand tools... still good stuff, as needed... (yeah, that's a 12 inch speed square ;>)

Let me know when you get it done, I have some projects I want to do. LOL

Cool, right? And cheap. And you can even clean the filter with your shop vac.

Right on, I've been using that same set-up right behind my grinder for years. As Bladite said, not as good as a proper dust collector but certainly worthwhile. You still need to wear a respirator of course, but it does help a lot with general cleanup.

However be warned... if you let the filter get too dirty and then aggressively hog off a bunch of steel, the sparks can suddenly turn the dusty filter into a huge glowing IR heater, fed by the fan pulling air through it  So vacuum off the filter often. Don't ask me how I know. :o :D

My buddy did the light in Chicago with his wife. He said it wasn't that bad and there were 5-6 guys doing the HCL as well. More power to ya if you go that route. That's a hell of a lot of training time for that long of a ruck.

Well, we'll see. I'm thinking we should stick with just the Heavy personally.

Speaking of lost time...

I'm pretty sure I know how you know....

hahaha, definitely a risk!
I put my box fan to the side of the running belt to pull off the light stuff. sparks don't seem to make it that direction.
Then I have a little upright barrier behind the grinder to catching the stuff that is thrown off tangent to the drive wheel at the back. Also I have a vacuum near the work area, a little off to the side. I'm not thrilled with the spark risk for that one. Maybe I should keep water in my vortex collector? yuck, what a sludge that would be.

Wife and kids are taking me out for a nice fat steak in a bit.

= WINNING.

Then i need to hit the store and look for a torch.

= Tie'ing ??

Question. If i eat a vegetarian, that covers meat AND veggies right??

Do i not absorb the powers of the veggies from the vegetarian that i have consumed? Does this not make me more powerful than a vegan ?

Thoughts for food.

I've eaten a vegetarian... She wasn't that good.

In other news, I've determined the best way to lower blood pressure. I'm currently laid out in a hammock in the woods behind a friend's house, and I figured out I can use my jacket as a way to keep the sun out of my eyes while it also insulates my head as an over and under type quilt.

What all do you plan on making with all of those fancy new tools Bladite?

There are indeed people who use what is essentially a powered bong to catch grit and dust and whatnot coming off the grinder. I haven't tried it myself but it makes sense. Which is worse, emptying a bucket of sludge every week or vacuuming up dry dust every week?

I would think it covers all your bases.

I wouldn't eat a vegetarian, hear they are bad for you...

ROFL, I've had the opposite experience. In college, and she was tasty.

mmm hammock. Now all you need is a stiff drink and a nap

So my oldest comes up to me wearing one of my old hats today and said to me 'look dad, I'm like the guy on the computer!'. Made me giggle, cause I was watching some Fisk video's on sharpening. I looked at him and thought to myself... hes missing something. So I handed him my BK5 :D

Then my little girl came up and wanted a picture 'with that guy on the 'puter' hah!

I thought it was pretty epic!

I've got Dickel and coke. And I was just out for an hour. Woke up cause my buddy came out "to check" on me. He wanted a turn in the hammock.
