Looks like their tomahawks on steroids. Sweet jebus I want one.
Seconded! And just look at the weight on that thing, holy crap!
Nothing wrong with having a safe queen. I have a few that could be considered safe queens (even though they technically have been used). More nostalgic value than anything. I guess I'm just intrigued by the various reasons why people do the things they do and knives are one thing I know a little about.
Some of us never had nice things while growing up, and we like to preserve niceties when we finally get them. For some of us, our bar on what's nice is a lot lower than it is for others. For others it's an investment as we've seen how utilitarian items from early years in the 20th century are big collector's items now, and the nicer the example, the higher the price on the resale market. That's why I won't use an 84mm Victorinox Tinker as a work tool since they're no longer in production.
And for some it's just common sense, as they read stories about abusive police tactics that deprive people of their legally owned property under civil forfeiture. I sure wouldn't carry a $1K knife if I knew it could be taken away from me on the basis that it "might be used in connection with a crime" and I have to spend 20 times that go get it back.
