Does Smokey Mountain Knifeworks have a KA-BAR or BK&T section? Not absolutely sure, but my dad might drive us down there next weekend.

Yes they do. :)

A couple times a year they also have manufacturer rep weekends, and Ethan is usually there at the KA-Bar Becker booth to meet and greet people. So keep an eye peeled for that.

Yeah, buy its 45min away... and I can never spend as long as I want there if I have to take my kiddo's.

Mmm Its has been a while since I've gone to the local knife shop...
Wish we had a local knife shop. The closest with a selection is a large gun shop in the city... But they mark blades up close to 2x manufacturers suggested retail!!! Lol and all the workers are absolutely worthless. Its really depressing... They sell guns marked up like that too.... like hot cakes!!! Crazy...

The only shining light I've found is Jantz, they stock a few knives in their store front for really good prices... I commented on this to one of the amazingly nice ladies who works there. Pretty much said, yah, we dont feel like jacking up prices is right to do to people. They would rather have your business and a happy customer then a few extra bucks. I was blown away by that.

Yeah I hear that. The local one I go to I'd give a 4/5 stars. They are knowledgeable, they are great to talk to, they have excellent customer service, but with the added costs of a store front the knives are a little pricy. I love their selection. If they have it on their website, its in store for you to go check out  If they had something I wanted, I won't hesitate to buy from there (I've gotten a few from there). I even brought my dad there to buy one hehe

Yah, and I completely understand about buying local, the additional cost, and it being worth it. However, this gun shop has a reputation for jacking up prices just because they know people will pay it. More power to them, but I won't pay $150 for a KA-BAR cutlass machete... See what I mean? Haha!

Yeah, I order my Becker's through DEX because I'm not paying $135 + 13% sales tax for a reduced price BK5 lol

Since oil and water don't mix, this won't prevent sticking. It only works if you put it into the pasta after it's cooked and drained. If you put it in before, you're just boiling the pasta in a pot with some oil floating on top. Best way to get your pasta cooked right is to make sure and use a big pot with lots of water and keep it boiling until the noodles are cooked; strain and put them back in the pot with a little oil of your choice or butter or margarine. Alton says don't do it...so don't.

Ehh... I'm with ZZ on this. A small dash of oil seems to help. I've done both, I like the bit of oil. Do it however you like it, I do. Besides... Don't care what Alton thinks. Emeril uses oil if you want to name drop.. Guess what? Don't care what Emeril thinks either.

Arrrgh I'm so sick and tired of dealing with effin a$$hats that won't pay their invoices for work done. Seems like the bigger the company the tighter their sphincter is. Ready to call them all witches so I can go ahead and burn them.

The joys of being a small business owner I guess.

I tried calling Dex, no answer. I left a message though.

Hopefully everything is fine.
Clearly he's not been home. Not like him to not respond to my emails. Hope all is well. Thanks for trying WW, appreciate it.

EDIT: Should have checked my email first. He responded.

I talked to Dex yesterday, he's fine. Been real busy with things and such. Not my place to say really, but he's o.k.

Glad everything is OK, i figured he was just busy but its good to hear that someone has heard from him.
