Dalibor, I'm glad other some other members are getting a Regulus too.

I hope they like and use theirs as much as I do mine.:D:thumbup:

I received my Regulus last night and this knife is pretty dang awesome! It is very well built and is easy to carry/use considering its size. Very well done Dalibor! I'll be sure to post pics tonight.

One warning for future owners..the edge may not "look" scary sharp but it has that paper wheels kind of edge that will sink int your flesh if you are not careful ;)

Here is a quick pic of the Regulus and VECP I'm carrying today.

I managed to get my grubby hands on the knife on the left in post #162. And wow! To be honest with you when I first opened up the package I thought this knife won't stay in my collection, it was just too big! After playing with it for a while I can't imagine ever getting rid of it. It is one of those knives that just grows on you to a point where you just can't leave it alone. It is still BIG (and heavy at I believe 10 oz.) but what a tank, the closest folding knife to a fixed blade I have ever handled, or will probably ever handle. Overbuilt has new meaning and up close it has a coolness factor that I just can't put to words.

I was planning to wait until I have broken-in my Regulus before I write a real review (I only had her 3 days) but I just couldn't wait anymore to give my first impressions. First of all Dalibor is incredibly cool to deal with. He takes the time to explain every detail you could ask and with a passion, too. His enthusiasm is quite refreshing and his eagerness to improve will make him a huge player in the field in the years to come.

The knife feels awesome in the hand, like it gives you superpowers! Okay, not really like that but the skull crusher does cry out to be used as a skull crusher and, God forbid, if I had to plant it in somebody's skull one day, let's just say - fight over. The stonewashed finish is the best I have ever seen and contrasted against the orange peel it is a very complimentary combo.

The knife does need to be broken in. Opening, closing and unlocking require a little work but all have improved each day since I got it and according to Dalibor it should be perfect in a couple of weeks. It gives me an excuse to play with it so it's an effort that I don't mind.

Everything about this knife shows personalization. Nothing store bought here (except the screws I guess). The carved pocket clip really separates this knife from its peers. Most knives I've seen with a similar clip cost at least twice the price. Not necessarily because of the clip but I'm just saying...

The knife does ride up very high in the pocket and if you want to take it apart you do need to improvise a tool but I can live with these things for what I get in return.

I can't get it out of my head that what I would love to have for this knife would be some blue anodized standoffs! Dalibor?

Fantastic photos!!!!

I have been carrying mine for sometime now. At first it was as tight as a Mormon girl on prom night then got buttery smooth!!!! No offense to Mormons. jejejejeje But the knife is fantastic!! I hope you guys show it off when you can. lets inundate dalibor with business!!!

One week update - Stickiness when unlocking is virtually gone. Blade flicks open with the thumb only (no wrist) in all orientations but ending tip up requires a concerted effort.

That funny coolness factor that I couldn't quite get a grasp on is felt by everyone I have shown this knife to. While none of my friends or coworkers are true knife enthusiasts to the extent that I am, I do have a select few that I always introduce my new aquisitions to. They have seen my XM's, Overkill, Rockeye, etc. I usually get favorable responses, a head nod of approval, then raised eyebrows after they ask me how much. This knife just brought smiles, aggressive grips and then snarls like they are ready to do battle with whatever aggressor stupidly got in their way. Somehow it's a visceral thing.

Later today I am getting together with my dad and I am curious to see his reaction. He being both a knife enthusiast and a retired tool and die maker.

Dalibor sent me some pics of a 4" branch he chopped in half with his Regulus about 6 weeks or so before I got mine. I was impressed.

Today I did some light chopping with mine. I chopped some 1" saplings down without any trouble at all. I have a brush pile I still have to pick up.

I could have gotten a loper out of the garage to do the cutting/chopping but using the Regulus was a Lot more fun.

Anyone else use their Regulus for anything besides light cutting yet ?

I carved through some of my cocobolo and bloodwood scraps. The Regulus is very comfortable in hand but I do think a little less thickness behind the edge couldn't hurt ;)

Not quite a month yet but this thread needs some action and it's about time for an update.

I have used this knife extensively since aquisition and it really does everything it is supposed to do very well. I said it before, it's as overbuilt a knife as I will likely ever use. It does an excellent job at chopping shrubbery and such but not so good on my morning bagel. Tomatoes? More power to you.

The stonewash on the blade has some additional scratches from prying staples out of wood but if you didn't know they weren't there originally you wouldn't even notice. I have yet to sharpen it but I think it's about due.

Unlocking the blade has zero friction and it opens very smooth. No blade play anywhere and I would be shocked it it ever developed any. Great design that's hard to find fault with.

edit: this is my first knife with 3V and I'd say it holds up well. I thought it needed sharpening so I threw it under some magnification and saw how cruddy the edge was. Just stopped it clean on some printer paper and I threw it under the magnification again and it's once again perdy. Slices paper up cleanly.
