That thing is huge, it looks like it has quite bit of splitting in it also. Do you hand rub them with Tung oil when they're finished?Cut down a maplefor a friend last year just got to the blank. This is gonna be a beast almost 16" wide and 8" high.

There was no splitting in it Scott. I actually cut the ends off where it cracked and turned it wet, now it has to dry. I use a walnut oil for the finish.That thing is huge, it looks like it has quite bit of splitting in it also. Do you hand rub them with Tung oil when they're finished?

Here's the Bowie after a few steps forward and back.
I ended up too dark with the etch and sanded it back and did a bunch of short etching cycles.
I'm putting it aside for now to work on the handle.
