To the Makers of Things, Show us what you do!

Ha, that's me... I know a knife is finished when it's in the mail to a sheath maker.
The difference is your customers are getting the with a sheath included, that's as it should be. Back in the day if you went to a knife show and bought a knife, you got the knife and no sheath, you were stuck having that made after you bought the knife.

Yes, it's a different ball game for you guys. I only make them for my own satisfaction and don't sell anything, so I only have to please myself.

Your work is top notch, it would sell in a heart beat. I kind of know where you're coming from, I gave a lot of knives away and still do, it gives my a chance to build what I want, and expand my skill sets, other than the piece work feeling that filling orders sometimes gives me. I've started dabbling in some carbon steel lately trying to think outside the box. I started doing my own leather work for my knives years ago to eliminate the middle man, and save money, which lets me sell my knives for a better price. Besides leather working can be fun and just as satisfying as knife making, for me anyhow.

First crack at a couple of Booowies. Still got a bunches of learning to do.

Oh I like the lines on that middle one Scott!
Thanks John, these were the best of the bunch. I made a few before these that looked somewhat........... physically challenged 😁 They are now in the scrap pile. Went online and looked at a few and kind of emulated that. The bottom one is done with the exception of the handle. I messed up the grind on the other side and going to see if I can fix it. I also don't like the look of the Ricasso either. Might see if I can shorten it a little That one might be a GAW or gift to someone. Good thing is I don't do this for a living or I would be eating cat food.

I agree with Scott just keep making em. Ya learn something from each one. After all these years I still occasionally toss one. Keep on keeping on.

To hot to work outside today, I cut up some cherry I had laying around. Got three nice large bowl blanks.

I think this looks better, shortened the Ricasso and soldered the guard. Cleaned the grind up on the other side looks a whole lot better now. Need to work on soldering skills. I can solder electronics all day, 2 different metals is another thing.

Yeah.......... that was fun, lots of hand sanding. I ruined the first few I tried, it's an art trying to get them even and looking nice.

Coming along nicely! What's the length on that bad boy?

Blade in 9, with guard and handle should be about 14 overall. Not sure if I want to try a butt cap, see how the handle goes first.
