Tom Pettit Jr. Scammer - stay away

This thread reminds me why I don’t do high dollar trades,
I don't think I'd ever do a trade with anyone who hasn't been here a very long time and is a known factor here. As in, if I don't immediately recognize the username as someone I've interacted with and sold to or bought from in the past, trades are right out the window.

The favorable outcome here, would be for Tom Pettit to immediately send an acceptable cash payment to slybailey, and resolve this issue ASAP. Also, if Tom had the courage to unlock his profile, it would go a long way towards making him look less suspicious.

I agree with the first part, but not as much with the second.

T Tom Pettit Jr has been banned from BF's.

Of the screenshots that S slybailey provided, two things stand out to me more than anything.

First... " My bank account is setting at $12.18 literally so I can't pay anything"... then why are you on BF's daily trying to conduct higher dollar trades, your broke ass can't even pay for proper shipping, you might consider getting your priorities straight.

Second... "Like I said, I can send you some knives to help you recover some funds but, that's the best I can do. If that's not good enough, we can be done now. That's what I can do for you. Take it or leave it"... that's not going to work when you're the one in the wrong.

Those were the two EXACT things that stood out to me as well. F^^^ YOU with your "take it or leave it".

What if it’s a new member that has a fever and has a prescription is more cowbell?????

Well Tom, I tried to give you the benefit of the doubt but your give-a-sh*t meter must’ve hit an all-time low after you had a few successful transactions.

I guess let that be a lesson: Never trade a knife you aren’t prepared to pay cash for at a moment’s notice if things go terribly wrong in a trade, and don’t use/sell/trade until a mutual exchange of a thumbs up.

I think Tom operated with the presumption the deal is complete once the packages ship. Bad idea. Even worse idea was doubling down on it in front of the whole forum.

You see this with Facebook and Instagram knife people a lot. They have bad business practices. They buy, sell, and trade so much and so fast that they don't have the money or knives to cover themselves if there is a glitch in a trade or in shipping. Then something goes wrong and they can't honor their word because they were over-leveraged. No reserves, and low standards all around.

Agreed, but it isn’t limited to FB and Instagram types. I think knives can become an addiction for people. I don’t know what was going on in Tom’s head, maybe he got so hooked on the “juice” of constantly keeping knives in circulation. I mean, he was CONSTANTLY trading and I noticed it was practically a guarantee if you had an nice high-end knife he was posting his email to make a trade offer.

I don’t think he was a “scammer” by practice, I think he dug himself a hole with his trading addiction, didn’t have the funds to insure a deal gone bad, started to fluff the condition of his pieces, and worst was the indifference shown to the OP in resolving the issue.

He has no one to blame but himself, and hopefully this series of events is an impetus for some personal reflection.

I'm really sorry that you've had to go through one of these scammer nightmare's like this; that we all know are out there & try so hard to safeguard ourselves from.

And I'm glad that you finally followed through & found the time/energy, to expose this person & start this GBU thread.... as a warning to the other member' here & to the knife community in general.

As to you T Tom Pettit Jr : If all of this is in fact true, then you're a real F-ing POS!
Correction: There are no "If's" about it! The allegations made here in this thread by the OP, ARE, in fact, true!

In retrospect, they're actually even worse (if that's at all possible). Tom Pettit Jr., had the opportunity to come on here & correct his misdeeds for what he had done to Ryan....and what did he do? He went MIA. No defense- nothing.

You're either a righteous, honest person in the way you live/conduct your life, or you're not (there's no middle ground here IMO)! Tom, knowingly lied about the condition of this knife in question , & then when he was called out, he refused to defend his highly deceptive actions. The incriminating email chain he wrote to Ryan, is damning, as well as disturbing. I'm mean, what kind of person actually thinks/behaves this way???? Had this been me (or most anyone else here), we would have sold every single possession necessary to make this situation right & the OP whole again....apologize and ask for forgiveness....

I double down on what I quoted in my previous post...& I would unequivocally say these word's directly to Tom's face, man to thief., if I was ever given the opportunity.

After Being Here For 19 Years, I Have Seen a Lot Of Freakin Knife Flippers Come And Go, And This One Should Definitely Go_:poop::poop:

You know this place & this sales forum as well as anyone, Rick. It speaks volumes, when you feel a person like this, should "Go."

Well at least this explains, why Tom couldn't afford a BF's membership 🤣

And let's not forget, Carl, #3.
This scammer knowingly misrepresented the knife in question (blatantly lied is more like it). He in fact knew full well (documented by his earlier attempts to trade it to another member), that it was in USED, condition! Yet, when questioned by the OP prior to the trade, he told him it was in new condition.

^ Quite the pathetic position to be taking after you just scammed someone out of $1000 worth of knives.

To any apologist's here coming up with possible excuses for this scumbag- I will never deal with you.

And one final thing: I've got a hundred bucks I'm willing to bet, that this Shirogorov Tom traded, turns out to be a fake! Any taker's?
