Cool. My experience with m4 is that it is less rust resistant than D2 and will actually patina pretty easily. It has been quite a bit harder to reprofile than my d2. It actually took me longer to reprofile a 3.5" folder than a 5" fixed blade.

So in your experience the corrosion resistance is more sub-par (that explains why BM cerakotes the Contego) and as it is harder to reprofile M4 the edge retention one would assume is superior. Guess it works for me. I have to see how this knife does through use. Was your M4 experience with Benchmade's M4? What I read in relation to M4 was purely from researching this particular knife.

It is a Canadian "Trappist" Ale. I nice change from my usual stouts.

I've seen their Oatmeal Stout at the store. Saying that it is like Founder's has definitely got my attention.

Interesting.

If you like Chocolate Stouts, you should try Rogue's Double Chocolate. Expensive, but probably my favorite so far.
"The End of the World"!!! O.o, must've been a great beer to stock for 2012 ;)

Interesting drive for me tonight. I headed out knowing I was going to hit blizzard conditions. Was going pretty good and then it got worse and slowed me down to 45-50. Then all of a sudden I couldn't see a thing and when I was able to figure out where I was at I realized that it wasn't the road!! I barely got myself back onto the road and almost got stuck in the median. I usually push it when it storming, but 10mph and barely being able to see to stay on the road sucks!! I said to hell with it and managed to find a approach in the median to turn back. I went back to a small town and found a place to park on until the wind dies down.

Definitely better edge retention for me. The m4 knives that I've had were Spyderco.

Huck Finn do what?! That's a new one by me, got a pic? Phone's getting screwy or maybe I'm getting buzzed. I just cracked open a Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout, not buying any more of these. If it's free, sure, but never paying for another. Thanks!

Also, try the Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout. Good gracious, a contender for beating Founder's Breakfast Stout.

Agreed, La Fin Du Monde is good stuff. The brewery name is Unibroue and they're from Quebec. I believe they only make Belgian style ales.

A couple other good ones to try are are Trois Pistoles and Terrible.

Those are both dark Belgian ales, but will be nothing like a stout. Many of the Belgians have higher abv as well (9.0% and 10.5% above).

M4 is "High Speed Steel". Like drill bits.
It's designed to hold it's hardness at high temps (spinning cutting tools) rather than to be super wear resistant like D2.

Nice, but it needs something.
Oh, yeah - rivets! It needs more rivets... :D

I think it needs a third handle bolt on the BK2, which looks GREAT against The 710's AMAZING rock! ;)
(nice upgrade, dude!)

You gotta be careful, it is a well known problem that the handle scales can fly off without a moment's notice!

Let this be a reminder, make sure your Beckers have all three screws!

I had to take 2 screws off my handles off of to different beckers, I made that becker mix knife and had an extra set of handles with no screws...

I started. Using 6 screws just to be sure!!!!

As long as it ain't Chimay. I know it's blaspheming, but that stuff is terrible.

No hate for you here, that just means there's more left over for me :D

If you really didn't like Chimay that much you may not like either of my suggestions either. La Fin Du Monde is very different so that may still appeal to you.

On a more serieus note: how much bottles have you tried? It happens more than once that you (especially if you taste a lot) get a 'bad' bottle. Don't know why this happens, maybe something with the yeast or so. It happens with many brands. F.e. Maredsous seems to have this problem from time to time, a bad bottle in the batch. It just happens from time to time.

Or, it just might not be your taste.

strippin my bk9 and cs trail hawk as we speak. expect pictures at some point.

making homemade micarta tomorrow, hopefully ill have the scales on her in the next couple of days

Think I'm going to strip my 2. Been thinking about it for awhile now, may as well go ahead and do it.
