Top 10 things every man should own sometime in their life

For having things, Number 1 should be money.
What has real value in life, all the money in the world can't buy, peace of mind, health, friendship, good family, faith, etc.

1. A truck with a V8 Hemi
2. Red Wing boots
3. A Buck #110
4. A good Swedish axe
5. A Browning firearm
6. A Ruger firearm
7. A bow (a real bow, not one of those training wheel contraptions)
8. A good bird dog
9. A cabin off the grid and far from the nearest pavement
10. A Filson Mackinaw coat

1. A dog
2. A canoe or kayak
3. A fishing pole
4. A fine rifle (think Sauer, Mannlicher Schoenauer, Blaser, etc.)
5. A luxury car
6. A good knife
7. A Smith & Wesson revolver
8. A hunting license
9. A fast car
10. A Zippo lighter

I think every man should experience all these things. And in addition to these things, you need a good wife to share them with. One who may not necessarily share your desire for these things, but one who understands why you- as a man- need them.

1. The love of a great woman who is a true soul mate. Your lover, friend, co-conspirator, and mother of your children. All other inanimate items of life pale to insignificance to that. Houses can burn down, be torn apart by tornado's, wiped away by a flood. But if you have your wife and kids, you have everything. Stuff is just stuff, and can replaced.

I'll play.

1. A big sharp knife!
2. A straight shaving razor
3. A big bad truck
4. A 4 wheel drive luxury sedan
5. A Rear-Wheel-Drive sports car
6. Dog
7. A CRK Sebenza
8. A beard (at one point in his life)
9. Scars, lotsa scars!
10. Last but not least, a Good woman, that'll take care of him!

=)

1. A firearm
2. A folding knife
3. A motorcycle
4. A Backpack- everyday edc or a dedicated mountain pack.
5. A motorcycle
6. A dog
7. A four wheel drive vehicle
8. A toolbox full of tools
9. A zippo lighter
10. A laptop computer
John

I have all that stuff now including two motorcycles. I never use or carry the Zippo though. Not a good fire tool and I don't smoke. It would take a long time to make a detailed additions list but every man should own a sword. Not a decorative chrome plated fantasy blade or an old army saber your grandad had but an honest to God close quarters combat modern fighting sword.

I was listening to Bob and Tom radio show and they had this list. I feel like BF members are a cut above the rest. We have better lists. Of course I would say a spouse, a house, kids, etc. go without saying. I want this to be more toward edc, but contribute the way you wish. Keep in mind I don't mean that these are the only things that one should own, and my list isn't perfect. Perhaps your choices will bump some of mine out of the way.
Have fun, show me better choices- even if you can't get 10, or if you want to list more than 10.
Here's mine:
1. A firearm
2. A folding knife
3. A motorcycle
4. A Backpack- everyday edc or a dedicated mountain pack.
5. A motorcycle
6. A dog
7. A four wheel drive vehicle
8. A toolbox full of tools
9. A zippo lighter
10. A laptop computer
John

Check on all of them. :D

* a great folding knife - Chris Reeve, Strider, high-end Spyderco
* a car that lets you take a turn as fast as you want - mine is an Acura RL
* a dog that is happy to see you
* a car that makes people look in your window at a stoplight to see who is driving - never owned one, but I've experienced it in a rental bumblebee Camaro and a brand-new loaner Jaguar
* a Jet-Ski - all the fun of a motorcycle with none of the road rash
* polarized sunglasses
* a Japanese or Swiss mechanical dive watch
* jeans that fit right
* a good shotgun (on my buy list)
* a leather jacket

1. A Randall
2. A normally aspirated V-8 muscle car (or even a pony car)
3. A magazine fed centerfire rifle with at least a couple of the features that get Pelosi's panties in a bunch
4. Omega Speedmaster
5. 1911
6. 4x4 full size pickup
7. Horse
8. A couple "no shit I was there stories"
9. DD214
10. As I said before, a kid you can give the rest of the Top Ten to.

So the OP said OWN! as you typically own material goods, my answer is....
1) A good knife
2) A good axe
3) A good side arm
4) A good long arm
5) A good watch, prefer mechanical
6) A library of good books
7) A good bed & bedding (sleep is where we spend a large portion of our life)
8) A home (if stationary living is your desire)
9) A good set of tools ( to fix whatever needs fixing for yourself or others)
10) A good health care plan - cause if you ain't healthy or can get healthy - what is the point of living!

Thanks for the great lists, guys!
First off, what a tool am I to list motorcycles twice.
Second, I agree absolutely that material things dont mean anything compared to a wonderful wife and children.
Im lovin your selections,
thanks again, keep em comin.

A small sailboat for a rudimentary understanding of renewable resources and antique starships.

Can't come up with my own list, however, a few items do not fit this list. No man can have enough guns, knives, flashlights, fishing poles, and coolers, as no 1 will do everything need by the owner. i.e. no 1 handgun will do everything you'd want it to, no 1 cooler will cover all your bases, and you can't flip with a deep sea rig, etc. On a similar note, everyone should own at least 2 1911s. At least 2...

A 4x4 truck...
...with Bose sound system and satellite radio
...and concrete-filled bumpers
...and Hellfire launchers.

1) A Gatling gun
2) A Main Battle Tank. Any year is fine
3) Some RWD American Iron. Two wheels, or four wheels, your choice.
4) If it's two wheels, it should be an Indian...
5) A British sports car. Make mine an 8-Liter Bentley.
6) A Nissan Skyline. I prefer the regular to the R32.
7) A commissioned and sole-author custom knife. You know, because this is Bladeforums.

Edit when I think of the other three.
