Top 10 things every man should own sometime in their life

Something he has assembled/built himself with his own hands, like a computer, or a restored hot rod that is used every day.

I'm so blessed my list is quite complete.
1 a good woman
2 children
3 a good side arm preferably 1911
3 full size truck if possible 4X4
5 a good shotgun, rifle
6 motorcycle
7 fine Swiss watches
8 good knives.
9 convertible sport car
10 good cameras

1-A copy of "The Monkey Wrench" Gang by Edward Abbey

Good read! One of the legends around campus when I was in school was that Abbey based one of the characters on a professor in my department. All the other professors there said it was true, but we could never get him to admit it.

Have fun, show me better choices- even if you can't get 10, or if you want to list more than 10.

  1. A Motorcycle
  2. A Dog
  3. A Good Gun
  4. A Pickup Truck
  5. A Good Set of Tools
  6. A House
  7. A Canvas Work Jacket
  8. A Bottle of Whiskey Costing at least $100
  9. A Good Set of Kitchen Knives
  10. Something That Belonged to Your Father

Looks like... two to go! :D

Just realised that most of us will wear glasses at one stage of our lives (if we live long enough). So another item to make a good choice about.

1. Full size truck
2. Good hunting rifle/ shotgun/ pistol

6. A man cave
7. A shop with enough tools to fix most household chores
8. A giant stash of fireworks or in my case the chemicals and tools to make your own
9. A conceal carry permit and the training to be able to protect your family and possessions
10. A really hot girlfriend and/or a "freaky" girlfriend. Being in love and being dumped by them. Probably involves the former

Edit: wow, didn't know this was 4 pages long. After reading more I guess we have similar lists.

Rt014:
I liked what you said about animal heads on walls, perhaps you'd agree that the animal heads are the ones that you yourself bagged.
I remember a couple years back getting a nice mule deer, my 6 yr old girl absolutely had a fit that I was going to put the head in her brother's room, she wanted it in HER room!

Milling machine.

Lots of good stuff here, boys. I'm going to have to study this thread and make myself a shopping list.

Here are a couple additions:

Custom made Russell Cavalier boots
Tim Wright Kitchen knife set
Dodge Ram Hemi 4x4
A good .45 (too many varieties to choose only one)
A great Navy Blue double breasted suit
An Akubra hat
A cabin on a lake in the UP (with all the goodies)

You don't own your wife, family, job or money. I agree with what's been said about 'em, but for me, that's not what this list is about.

If you can't go quality, don't even bother - but I'll leave it to the beholder to define it for yourself. My trouble is after I get a good one, I redefine my expecation of "quality" and think I need better.
ie: nothing wrong with a Colt, but some say you'll need a Baer; a Spyderco is a thing of beauty, until you get to try a CRK.

In no particular order:

1) motorcycle
2) V8 muscle car (or truck!)
3) stick-shift sports car
4) long gun
5) hand gun
6) knife
7) watch
8) flashlight
9) dog
10) suit

a Great machete
A quality lawn mower
An amazing pocket watch
a quality tailored suit
Great work gloves. Real Man leather last you 20 years kind.
A new car. Like below 20 miles on the odometer new. Which kind is up to you. Just needs to have that new car feel.
a quality pair of sunglasses.
A russian mail order bride......... well, never mind that one

Correct (they must have met their demise under your own hand :-)

And besides, what self respecting man cave in the woods would be complete without them along with the adventure-time in the woods it takes to hunt them.

I'm 20, so rather young, but currently here are the 10 that I think

1. A good quality pocket knife
2. A good backpack
3. A dog (not a designer dog though, and properly trained)
4. A 4x4 or usable truck (not mini trucks)
5. A manual transmission vehicle
6. A fountain pen
7. A good watch (I prefer on the scale of rolex, or a good machanical or pocket watch)
8. A good pair of work boots (and use them)
9. A gun (of decent quality, none of the stuff that falls apart after a few shots)
10. A good quality hat (not a ball cap)

and the few others that I can think of.

11. The supplies for a wet shave, either Double edge or a straight razor
12. A good quality flashlight
13. Something custom made for him, whether that be a custom tailored suit, a custom knife, just something truly custom

A wife and kids should be on this list, but since you can't own that....you can have it, but they aren't your property

I personally (at 20 years old) don't have all of these...most I do, but not all.

and OP, great thread Idea, I have enjoyed reading this one

1. A Rolex
2. A pair of Red Wing workbooks.
3. A pair of custom cowboy boots.
4. A lever action rifle.
5. A pump action shotgun
6. A custom knife to use.
7. A tailored suit.
8. A custom hat.
9. A good horse.
10. A piece of land to call your own.
