The OP said things every man should own (can we say have?) sometime in their life. I think this shouldn't just be a bucket list of awesome toys but more like experiences or things that have great meaning. Therefore the list should be like 100 or 1000 things, but here are a few that I think are fine:

A great friend
A great lover
A great dog
A lost weekend/year
A recognition of personal skills
A car crash
A scary situation
A thing you can do that makes you happy
A threesome
A bit of extra cash
A girl who loves horses
To have gone camping
To have fired a gun
To have eaten something you killed or grew
Self confidence
Memories and scars
Some time to yourself

So, I'm new to Blade Forums, found you all during a web search. Although I didn't follow strickly the 10 things rule, (I had written this one before I found BF). The following is a list of 20 things ever man should have at least once in his life from my humble perspective only: Enjoy:

I like most of you have had my share of many of these things and some not. So as not to be redundant I will add a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader fiance'.

lots of great things on these lists, and many I've no interest in.

One thing no one has mentioned (unless I missed it) was a quality bicycle.

Camera and skills enough to use it.
Self respect
Firm handshake
In unmovably string word that never wavers
COMMON SENSE (no not the copper ones with Lincoln's picture on it)

These are the things on m list and most cannot be bought and sold, but are more valuable then gold!

-Dog
-Classy knife
-Hard use knife
-a slipjoint or a few
-Carharrt jacket
-ability to cook a hearty steak
-Boots
-Zippo
-Powerful flashlight
-money

I have all but the last :o

Don't know if its mentioned on page 2-5 but I noticed a lack of it on page 1-

A lever action rifle, both .22 and large caliber center fire. Every real man should own one of each. I did notice the double barrel shotgun was listed, either SxS or O/U is good and of course the .44mag wheel gun.

Also everyone needs a HID flashlight, I'm not talking about just a bright light, an actual HID light.

Tannerite (exploding targets)

1911

A 10mm hand gun

Combat Infantry Badge

(See my signature line)

I was listening to Bob and Tom radio show and they had this list. I feel like BF members are a cut above the rest. We have better lists. Of course I would say a spouse, a house, kids, etc. go without saying. I want this to be more toward edc, but contribute the way you wish. Keep in mind I don't mean that these are the only things that one should own, and my list isn't perfect. Perhaps your choices will bump some of mine out of the way.
Have fun, show me better choices- even if you can't get 10, or if you want to list more than 10.
Here's mine:
1. A firearm
2. A folding knife
3. A motorcycle
4. A Backpack- everyday edc or a dedicated mountain pack.
5. A motorcycle
6. A dog
7. A four wheel drive vehicle
8. A toolbox full of tools
9. A zippo lighter
10. A laptop computer
John

Good so far. (though I am not sure a laptop is on the list of man gear needed though I have them)

Additions:

- A lever-lock automatic knife
- A multitool and/or a SAK
- A really good set of hiking boots
- A handheld magnetic compass
- An Italian stove-top espresso maker (like a Bialetti)
- A cast iron dutch oven
- A powerful slingshot
- A quality axe (and sharpening gear)
- A home-made soap box derby car
- A GI Joe
- Some completely inappropriate and possibly illegal fireworks

TedP

Gonna have to delete the Espresso maker (I don't drink coffee).

I don't have an automatic knife, because of where I live, so that's out.

But the rest, I have, or have owned in the past.

1 A fine watch
2 A camera
3 A copy of the Quiet Man
4 A fountain pen
5 A canoe
That is all I can think of to add to that list.

I don't own a copy of the quiet man....... but good otherwise.

I am doing pretty good here.

I may have to call my folks and shout "I'm a Man!"

That's a good base. I still believe that all you need is a pair of boots, a watch, a knife, and enough cigarettes to get you through the day. The rest will come naturally.
