Here are my requirements:
Tough, Heavy duty, Rugged Folder. Does not have to be a "pretty face" or High Tech. But rather a folder that fits the bill "when there can only be one" .
And definitely one that is suitable for daily chores or potential threat neutralizing duty if required to do so. I prefer a tough as nails blade. Price is NOT an object but somewhere in the $200.00 to $650.00 range is acceptable. The blade should be tough, thick and the knife should be built like a tank. Please indicate your logical preference in this catagory....bear in mind it will be the ONLY folder that I purchase.

I thank you in advance and await your comments.

In my experience, Tom Anderson and R.J. Martin make some folders(framelocks) that could be considered fixed blades.

But for sheer brute strength I would definitely go with a Strider AR or SMF, having said that, you are going to lose some cutting ability due to the thick blade stock on the Striders.

Extreme Ratio makes a very strong folder as well.

Personally I like to carry a small thick fixed blade and an integral(framelock) folder, this combination can handle any cutting or prying task I may have.

The Bob Dozier "Workhorse" It is the strongest, toughest folder that you will ever find. Bob does not make many of them and they are $600.00 but it is a folder that you can bet your life on. I have never seen a better folder

Toughest folder on Earth? I would say an Airkat Tripwire, if you can find one. I sure wish Mr. Carrillo would make some more knives.

Then, there's Strider (various models) and the Buck "Folding Alpha Hunter"... or Mercworx, if you want something pretty.

Bro, I don't doubt what you say because I have never handled a workhorse but how can you compare a linerlock to a framelock, for sheer strength?

Never handled it but going from the looks and design of the Extrama Ratio folder, it might be IT.

I suggest a Manix. If you need something stronger than that, buy a fixed blade instead.

Any of the Strider Folders
Cutter Knife &Tool [CKT] Brend Model 2- Buyilt like a damn tank!!!

spyderco manix......you cant appreciate how beefy it is till you handle one.

when the blade locks up, it sounds like someone is stroking a pump shotgun.

Hands down, biggest, strongest, and can get pretty darn sharp for folders are a Gerber Parabellum or a TOPS CQT Magnum folder. I own both, and have owned many many fine top shelf folders. NONE compare in strength as to the two mentioned above. When opened they are virutal fixed blades. keepem sharp

The extrema ratio folders are 1/4 inch thick steel, they are considered some of the toughest folders out there. Strider folders are very tough. There is also the Sebenza and the skirmishes from BM.

The Workhorse is a tablock, not a linerlock.

Dozier Tab-lock - locks the blade entirely across the back width of the blade, eliminating the need for a stop pin and creating an ultra strong lock.
