Trackrock Hammer-in Spring 2016

I'll be there Friday morning doing my grinding for the week! Woot!
 
I just put in a time-off request so I can take a half day on Friday. Really want to get on the road early enough to drive down from NC and get there before dark.

Me and my boy packed all our gear yesterday. Just need to throw it in the truck, fill the cooler with food and beverages, and get to Friday!

Tony, it takes me 1 1/2 from my house to the camp grounds, so should give you a good idea of travel time. We'll have it warmed up for you and Luca!
 
I've got a motorcycle safety class on Thursday and plan to leave after that. Doubt I'll make it all the way without stopping for the night.
i'm just not the spring chicken I used to be. Looking forward to it!
 
How anyone can wait until Friday is beyond me......already got my truck loaded.
So just cleaning shop, finishing up some small projects, playing with the dog and watching the clock.

Hopefully I'll get in a little forging on Friday morning before I get too busy.

Really, Really looking forward to Friday!!! I'll be heading up about 7 am on Friday, so please give me a shout if anyone wants to GTG early. I'll be stopping in Hiawassee for a few minutes to check on some things on the way in, but can be over by the camp grounds most anytime.
 
Looking forward to seeing you guys there. I'm headed up in a few hours to start getting things set for the weekend.....you know, all that behind the scenes stuff.
Cell reception is iffy to bad up there for most services so make your calls before you get there. I won't have service or internet all weekend so if you need any info call the campground office.

Just a bit of an update for you guys and gals who were not able to make it. Truly a magnificent event to participate in. Special thanks to Rick Lowe who helped me forge my first knife and just being there to hang out with to swap stories and knowledge, Carl for an honest opinion of my first efforts (crap I believe was the word used ;) )and for a very special new knife and great to hang with Randy, John and the whole Fiddleback crew. Also great to meet up with Tony, Luca, Bud, Bill and Blaine.

Carl did a great job (again) setting this up. Awesome weather too! :thumbup:

Good seeing you again Southern Gent. You missed out on bear71 making it to the Hammer In today. The Fiddleback crew/enthusiast wore out Rick's forge/anvil today. Lots of cool stuff getting made .. including some Fiddleback & W.A Surls 'curly Q's'

Scott Davidson is hosting a GA Guild meeting at his new place in May .. and then there's whopper of all - Blade Show 2016 in June.
 
Damn DJ!!!!!!!!!!! I missed staying at your place for the gathering and then missed you again at Trackrock. Not happy about that, but I hope you and your boy had a great time today and were able to hit some steel. Man, sorry again I missed you guys.

Tony, had a penguin suit event I had to attend today, but can't wait to see you again at Blade in June. So glad I got to meet you and Luca, who by the way is a strong little SOB. Good on you guys.
