Trackrock Hammer-in Spring 2016

Damn DJ!!!!!!!!!!! I missed staying at your place for the gathering and then missed you again at Trackrock. Not happy about that, but I hope you and your boy had a great time today and were able to hit some steel. Man, sorry again I missed you guys.

No problem. Sounds like you were as busy as we were. Posted some additional pics over at the ESEE Forum. Hopefully you can make it up this year. Murph and Todd are coming so should be even more fun. Murph blew a tire last year but made it anyway.

It's on my calendar. Going to have to rely on a few folks to keep up over there due to crap a talk and my work firewalls. Not happy I can't keep in better touch with you guys. Glad you got some pics up over there though because it is a real treat being at Trackrock. So awesome if Murph and Todd make it down to your place this year. I see some good times ahead.

Tony, had a penguin suit event I had to attend today, but can't wait to see you again at Blade in June. So glad I got to meet you and Luca, who by the way is a strong little SOB. Good on you guys.

Just read this to him. He's grinning ear to ear!

Track Rock was awesome. Made a great bunch of new friends, tried my hand at the forge and anvil, saw my boy make his first blade, picked up two (or three) new shiny things, and sat around a campfire with the most remarkably welcoming, generous, hysterical group of guys I know. What an experience!

Luca's first knife!

One Fiddleback, one C Rex, and one W.A. Surls!

A fair amount of good natured abuse was being directed at Allen right about now! I think something about heat treatments.

Trying to not mangle my first blade. Allen and Rick saved the day.

Great updates folk. Very nice to see all the kids being involved. I am sure they will be looking forward to next year

If i could get past the dial up speeds in my hotel I'd post some pics. I only managed to get there foe ½ day but it was well worth it. Great to meet up with the guys I already knew, a real treat to make some new friends and put faces to names and a real privilege to be taught by the gentleman Rick "I'll hold it you hit it" Lowe!! So glad I made the trip, and my wife got chance to understand my enthusiasm for pointy things. Unfortunately due to her new found enthusiasm I think it'll be an even more expensive hobby,, could be worse!

You have to post pics of that beautiful blade you made after you finish the handle. And I also got a laugh out of the "I'll hold it, you hit it" moment!
Great to meet you!

Just added a thread in my forum also, more pics are up. What a great time!!!

Just made it back to Suffolk after the LONG drive. Really enjoyed the weekend and highly recommend it! Lots of happy people talking about what they enjoy doing. Great sharing of information. And dinner wasn't bad Saturday evening (or Friday for that matter).... I'll post up the rest later.

Man, you can't say enough how fun Carl's Trackrock Hammerin weekend. The scenery, the barn full of craftsmen sharing their knowledge, and the commraderie are off the charts. It is an experience that is addictive. THis go round we had more Fiddleback customers to show up and hang out than ever before. I got to meet Luca and son, Swonut was there again, Southern Gent, Bear 71 and lovely wife, and Bill510c was there for the second time. We made blades during the day and spent out evenings over a campfire having a grand time. If you want to spend a weekend with us having fun and talking knives all day, you can't beat this. That says nothing for how cool it is to watch kids pounding out blades. They get this look on their faces. We see the same kids again and again. Its more fun than I can describe. Thanks to everyone, especially Carl. This was his baby, his idea, and it is influencing a lot of kids. Thank you my friend.

Great pics Guys!
Really glad you enjoyed the event. I've been truly blessed with the Campground connection and the good friends I have that keep this event alive. I never tire of seeing the younger folks learn to use their hands for something more than an I-pad or Gameboy. As many of you saw, they get pretty lit up over doing something like this (as well as some of you older guys).
I always wish there was "just one more day".....seems I rarely get to swing a hammer while there anymore (do plenty at home), but sure do get to meet a lot of fine folks. And, like a lot of you have already pointed out the visiting and after hours tech sessions are a real hoot.
Bud....got to watch your daughter forge a bit, she's a natural. The real observation/compliment came backhanded from Scout who was instructing her ..... she doesn't swing a hammer like a girl! He was actually letting her use "The Hammer" (once my favorite now his and not to be toyed with). Few beginners get that op, ever!

Early notice for your calendars - The fall event will be Halloween Weekend - Oct 28, 29
May be some nifty pumpkin "carving" involved. Start making plans.

Sending Andy a where's Waldo pic (having trouble sticking it to this thread).

Thanks again. We had a great time and gained a ton of knowledge.

Thank you Carl! My son would be sleeping next to that knife you sold him...if I wasn't stealing it away all the time!

I must have looked at these pics ten times! Can't wait for the next one.
