Trade deal gone bad...opinions requested.

If he did this intentionally I don't know and you don't know. Yes, it is best to describe and document wear marks accurately. I always try to over describe wear just to avoid this very issue. The point is, one party was not happy with the deal and has gone above and beyond to get it remedied. The other party has now agreed to a return. Mistakes were made on both sides. Cooler heads have prevailed and hopefully all can be set right. And this situation will remain here in GB&U as caution for other folks to consider.

I never would think that Scott would or has done any of this intentionally..
IN HERE or on Ebay--Ebay is also on REP..
How have we crossed from Ebay to BF..ONLY by being upfront and accountability that they let each other know that..
I am really amazed at where this has gone and is still going..

Ebay people flake out ALL THE TIME--
It happens here as well..But damn...This seems to have had a ""FORCED RESULT"" in my eyes Simply to potentially keep the REP score in good standings here and too CALM The masses..................And of course..maybe in retrospect..It was the correct thing to do...UNLESS..On Ebay sales== YOU CAN CLEARLY STATE all SALES are FINAL...

From the questions he has answered for me, he sounds truthful enough, but so does the OP. I don't know that either has done a whole lot wrong with respect to intentional deceit. Both certainly made several mistakes though. Seems like a bad situation gone awry. Best to return the knives, fix the feedback, and let this thread stand, searchable for others to decide if they want to deal with all who have posted here, not just the two involved in the trade.

No, no, no, no... This has nothing to do with hiding anything, truth or falsity, intentions, deceit, who made mistakes or whatever. It has to do with perceptions about how sechip handles business transactions that have gone sour whatever the circumstances - it doesn't matter. In this case, sechip has failed miserably. Given what I've seen in this thread, there is no way on god's green earth that I would engage in any transaction with sechip even if I thought Kevin5's complaints were unjustified. I wouldn't take the risk. There are plenty of other safer avenues to pursue.

You may win the battle but end up losing the war.

GIZMOMAN- Thank you for reading and forming a sound and intelligent opinion. You just stated pretty much everything that I was going to say once I got to the end of this fiasco! There is certainly something wrong with the OP's story. I deal with people on a daily basis and it is my job to determine who is or is not blowing smoke. I am going to make this quick especially since the string has worn me out. The story reaks of remorse for what was delivered rather than the condition of what was delivered. The whole way through I was thinking this. The fact that the OP through in the fact that he was going to donate the knives to charity either way, Bull! SHAME ON HIM FOR PLAYING THAT CARD......... The fact that others have jumped in simply because they feel that any trade should be undone if both parties are unhappy does not give them any reason to attack Sechip and his character. Especially Kelama, its none of your business. Its ok to chime in but it is not your position or business to go on the attack unless maybe you are friends with the OP. Even then I simply do not understand how you can read the original thread without throwing up! Personally I would have just reversed the deal to avoid this bull! Right or wrong you still have to deal with the fallout and as Sechip has stated it is just not worth it and that is the main reason to undo this deal. I will say this, I have dealt with a lot of people on this forum and I have always done the right thing. I pride myself on doing so and I also pride myself on doing business with others that do so. Sechip has always been a stand up dude in our dealings and I have found him to be nothing but straight forward and honest. I have had one scenario with him where he could have ripped me off without my ever having known. Instead he contacted me and advised me of the situation and did the right thing. Anyone who knows him knows what he is like and shame on any of you who have attacked him here. WJSWIGER you are the man for calling everyone out and making the statements that you have.

PERSONALLY I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE RECEIPT FOR THE DONATION THAT THE OP IS GOING TO MAKE. IF AND WHEN I DO I WILL TRUST HIM. UNTIL THEN NO BUSINESS..........

Maybe I missed something after reading wall after wall of text, but the deal was not done on ebay from what i can gather. Scott, you are better off just undoing the deal and being done with it. Also please take better pictures.

The deal wasn't done on eBay any more than it was done on BF. If this is an eBay deal, then why wouldn't you two have used eBay feedback to decide who ships first?

Excuse me where and when did I attack any of you that disagree? I thanked him for forming a sound and intelligent opinion, in my mind, of the original thread. Never did I say that any other opinions were stupid or ignorant.
 
I for one see nothing wrong with those pictures. Brushed satin looks completely different in various lighting conditions and angles. It is not as if the image was touched up on Photoshop or shot in a lightbox. The OP's familiarity with custom knives means that he should reasonably have been aware of this. If you look at even Brend, Weiland or Marfione high polished knives at the right angle you can see tons of little superficial scratches that only present at very specific lighting conditions and specific angles. In addition, when fingerprints, grime and oil from your fingers get on a satin finish, it can cause that visual effect without having to do with the actual finish of the knife. We don't even know if the OP carried this knife himself, or accidentally wiped it down with an abrasive cloth, causing the scratches, if they are scratches.

Oh I am sorry I did not think that I was speaking to you. Oh yeah I wasn't! But to answer your question several of you are keeping the attack going and will not let it rest. I posted in his defense and would have been fine leaving it at that. I am not going to stand by and watch you all gang up on him without saying something, sorry. It should be over let it go. If he does not reverse the deal you can bring this all up again. You and others just seem eager to fight. Is it a full moon tonight!
