Trade deal gone bad...opinions requested.

Lol the community pool .. only if they have the chemical to turn urine blue so everyone can see.
So did you use your feedback from BFC to help him understand that you are a legit trade partner? He has said you did.

Honestly though, I don't know what can be gained by further beating this horse. The knives need to go back. You lost no money in this deal. Chalk it up to a learning experience. The outside of ebay rules thing is another issue on its own. You shouldn't have done that and nor should he have agreed to it. Both are wrong. Don't circumvent the rules whereever you are; be it BFC, paypal, ebay, or your local community pool.

Is there a way to link this thread to sechip's feedback rating? If I were about to transact with him, this thread would make all the difference in the world in my decision to NOT continue with an exchange of any sort. Wow!

I agree, and as soon as he does what he needs to do i will keep my word.

Yes i did tell him about my feed back.

Before or after the deal was done? You just said that you told him you were a member after the deal was done. This is an important point relating to if the feedback he left for you on BFC is justifiable. Again, if all is cleared up the feedback should be removed because no deal was done. I still think it is an important point to get straight though.

Exactly how is he getting "railroaded" he won't be out a single penny and his feedback will be fixed... your exaggerating with he's getting railroaded lol
sechip - you are getting railroaded. I understand wanting to "clean" the record, but you sent the knife as shown. If your blemished record isn't expunged then consider the deal done.

I believe when we were talking about shipping.

Don't just rely on the feedback. To ensure further safety you should be searching here in the GB&U before dealing with anyone.

I know pictures and lighting can sometimes alter the looks of the condition of a knife. Sechips pictures are pretty nice quality and the OPs pics are kind of crappy. But it seems on Kevin's pic of lockside there is a very visible scratch on the lockbar. Am I seeing that correctly? If so, that wasn't in sechips pic and is grounds enough to undo the deal IMO. Some better pics from Kevin could probably go a long way in this thread.

Right, but not everyone knows that...

sechip, do yourself a big favor and stop responding here, follow through with the return, and move on quickly.

I see the same thing, when bright light is directly hitting the knife there not visible in photos.. take away the bright light which causes glare to obscure scratches and voila then you see them.

So the OP receives a knife which had pictures that were more or less professionally done to look good "aka" hide imperfections and all of you are flaming him? That is totally deceiving in any rational person's books and a textbook definition of being ripped off in economics. IF the other party had provided more "accurate" pictures of the knife's flaw maybe this would not have happened.

While that might be the wise thing to do it would also say a lot about character. If you have nothing to hide, then don't hide. From the questions he has answered for me, he sounds truthful enough, but so does the OP. I don't know that either has done a whole lot wrong with respect to intentional deceit. Both certainly made several mistakes though. Seems like a bad situation gone awry. Best to return the knives, fix the feedback, and let this thread stand, searchable for others to decide if they want to deal with all who have posted here, not just the two involved in the trade.

That's what I was thinking as well... those photos with bright light do not accurately show the marks on that knife period....

Just to clear up the OP's you 'can't trade on ebay' line....

Happens everyday, though you aren't supposed to technically do it.

You contact the seller and offer him a trade, he closes the listing, and the deal gets done.

This is a mess, I think the GBU pressure has pushed Scott to do what the OP wants, nothing more to see...

Be real does the photo of the knife with the pistol accurately show the marks on the knife? Whether or not that was don't intentionally I don't know but it sure seems that way. When doing a trade or selling an item the seller needs to take accurate photos SHOWING the marks not HIDING them. I try to describe any flaws and show them in pics.
