Traditional and Modern pairings

I've carried the Emerson every day at work for years, I'm not sure why because it's not nearly as useful as a small knife other than it makes a great pry bar.

And......it has an appetite for flashlights!

The wind was a torrent of darkness among the gusty trees,
The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas,
The road was a ribbon of moonlight over the purple moor,
And the highwayman came riding—
Up to the old inn-door. He'd a French cocked-hat on his forehead, a bunch of lace at his chin,
A coat of the claret velvet, and breeches of brown doe-skin,
A fine ebony jackknife tucked in his boot
Nary a wrinkle
And he rode with a jeweled twinkle,
His pistol butts a-twinkle,
His rapier dagger's hilt a-twinkle,
Under the jeweled sky.

My standard combo these days is an Uncle Henry 897UH with the spey blade modified to wharncliffe profile (tip was chipped when I bought it) or a Klein electrician knife think el cheapo TL-29, and whichever one hand opener I feel will do what I think I might need that day. Fomerly that was nearly always a Leek, but more recently it is primarily either a BM Grip in CPM-M4 or a BM 913D2 nitrous assist and occasionally a Leek. As an offshore electrician I find the uncle's smaller blades an asset when cutting tape and other light or precision work, and it is sharp enough to cut tyraps and rope when needed as well, the bigger knives with more wear resistant steels get used when heavy duty cutting is in order, ie. lots of 1/2" manila rope, stripping jackets and armor on cables, etc.

Sold that bigger folder, man that was big! but this one, a Boker S2 I like a lot, as well as the bark ivory GEC #79 2 bladed Montana Workhorse, one for brute force, one for delicate cuts and just lookin' good ;)
Also my watch, love that watch Sinn 656, strap is getting a bit worn out, and a constant companion Streamlight MicroStream and a Fisher space pen round out the days carry, typically..

When my wife and I moved to Monterey last October, there was one box that the moving company lost. In that box was my very favorite modern...the Centofante 3. Just last week its replacement landed, so I thought I'd take a shot of two of the big three with the new modern..... The Centofante stays forever in my bag, while the rotation of traditionals sit in my right front pocket...

I paired up that GEC #73 Scout Linerlock I got yesterday with a mini-Griptilian. They'll make a good carry combo.

Nice pairing Ed.

I've got a Yellow Mini-Grip, pity I don't have a large single blade Yellow 73 or CASE Large Stockman to match it with:eek:

Thanks, Will
