Traditional French Fry day

Got a smallish one in, handle is almost too small, but I do like the size of the blade.

Made a nice leather slip sheath for her, very supple milled leather dyed brown and used yellow sewing thread.

Your leatherwork is always outstanding! I made my first leather slip recently and it made me realize that it's definitely quite a skill to do stitching like yours. Well done!!

The knife ain't so bad either. ;)

Thanks, I only recently learned how to do the two needle saddle stitch which works great on softer leather like this, before I used the Awl-n-Awl and it would bunch up the leather so I hated making softer leather sheaths, but now, I like it a great deal.

As to that knife,

Here's a video I just made with it, blade steel is in 14C28N that I just sharpened up yesterday,

edited to add this video that shows how I remove folders from the slip sheaths when they do not have a lanyard, basically you wriggle the leather back and forth while applying pressure to the bottom of the knife, squeezing it forward much like a tube of toothpaste, until the end of the knife presents itself and you can then pull it out the rest of the way.

Beautiful Gary. Are you going to try and hold on to this one for longer than a week? It seems you like horse trading almost as much as you like knives. 😂

You inspired me to carry this one today.

I hear that a great deal, just can't keep them all and one way of getting something new is to sell, usually at a loss but I rationalize that as a 'Rental Fee' .

To answer your question as to keeping this one, I am not sure right now, the handle is smaller than I had envisioned, so she might end up in the for sale section, and now with the slip sheath that adds a little to it as well...

And your knife looks pretty nice too. If there were a store closer, well I'd be in a LOT of trouble probably :), but it would be nice to be able to handle in person before buying, ....probably...;)

I miss my Chambriards the most and now the place that carried them has long since closed shoppe...
