traditional knives in movies

Rewatched one of my all time favorite movies the other night and sighted some knives. If you have never seen this one I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Snow Walker: Barry Pepper's character uses a lockback Buck (I think) for several scenes ranging from attempted radio repair to the dressing out of the caribou he and Kanaalaq have killed. Kanaalaq uses her ulu for all of her slicing/cutting/dressing jobs.

In the movie "Hannibal", Lecter uses either a Harpy or a Tasman to disembowel Inspector Rinaldo Pazzi of the Florence, Italy Police right before hanging him.

Think it's a Harpy, but this is the traditional knives forum :)

Anybody seen Gorky Park, with a young William Hurt? Im trying to identify the traditional knife he used in that movie, i really like it.

I still had it on VHS until the other week when I had a clear-out!

I had some hosted a while back, let me see what I've got. Whenever I'm watching a movie I always screenshot any traditional knives I see.

Here is Ed Norton's SAK from Moonlight Moonrise Kingdom (thanks P. for the correction!) What a looker!

In Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy, there is a shot of Control's SAK on his desk.

Tom Hardy's character snaps open a lockback for self-defense but we're not shown exactly what it is. Maybe a Buck given the time period.

'Lincoln' is replete with traditional knives. Whittling...

Eating an apple...

Finally, in the excellent HBO series 'The Wire' Detective Shakima Greggs is seen with a Delica when she scrapes heroin from a crime scene. In a different season, though, she uses an unidentified spearpoint slipjoint (probably a SAK) to dig a slug out of a wooden dresser.

I remember in Kill Bill, Uma Thurman kills Buck with a Buck 110. Talk about Irony. :)

Also, I remember in hot fuzz, when Danny pretends to kill Sgt Angel, I think he uses an Opinel.

The Muela Magnum used in Seraphim Falls is the same model used by the mexican meth Dealer in Breaking Bad to smash and sniff the rocks.

In the Jim Carrey film The Majestic, early in the movie, there's a sweet-looking jack in a display case at the cemetery. Later, the Carrey character and his friend use their pocket knives to cut rope holding a cover over The Majestic cinema sign.

I watched "Anna and the King of Siam" the other day on TCM. Right before Anna's son gets killed in an accident, they are preparing to leave Siam. Anna's son gives the oldest prince what appears to be an elephant toe knife. After Anna's son's death there are several cuts to the prince sharpening his pencil with the knife as he gets older and continues his education. I want to say it's in the last 30 minutes of the movie as presented by TCM.

And he's whittling on a George Strunk bird. George was a consultant to James Spader for that scene.
