Nice TTF set-up!While doing some reorganizing, I came across one that I'd misplaced (as in hadn't put it where it belongs - I actually knew where it was, just hadn't bothered to move it because I had intended to put in some more practice time this summer) - so I was doing a little plinking today. As luck would have it, this thread was in the New Posts when I came inside

Nice forkI probably will remove about an inch from the forks and about 1.5 inches from the handle. Does this sound about right? Should the forks be longer than my fingers or at the same length or does it not matter?
Should work wellI’m thinking over the top flat bands. Course I’ll have to source them.
It’s been seasoning 6 months or so. The ends are checked some. It’s still some green so I took the bark off to expedite the process.Nice forkHave you let it season a while, sometimes the ends split, and the wood shrinks? In terms of the fork length, a lot of it depends on how you intend to hold the slingshot. Don't forget you can always trim them
Should work wellThey're very easy to source online. Lots of different types though, so worth using a reputable supplier

The hold I showed is my intended hold.
I'm a fan of lower forks, so I'd take some off. Maybe an inch or so above your hold? You can always take more off, but harder to put it back on![]()
Great matching pair
Cut them even, and straight, like 'Y'I think I’m going with a pinch hold. You can see a knot that causes the right fork to have the same forward angle as the left. So I’ll cut off at that. And you can see the pulled wood here. Should the forks be cut even across with each other? Or is it cool to cut them square to their axis?
