WHoo hoo, I can do this one:

I have these but I think I'll carry this one, it's from the same year i was born, thought it was a pretty good auction site find :)

I just got my yellow CV Sodbuster Jr. I have to say that I'm not all that impressed. Lots of blade wobble - although some generous whacks with a rubber mallet took care of (most of) that. Horrible wire edge. And the handle slabs aren't even - one side looks like it was sanded down more than the other. These aren't really complaints though. It's as much as I expected from a $20 knife from Case, and bought it to use/abuse and let get ugly. I haven't yet decided if Ill force a patina, or just let it naturally develop.

I'll bet that even with the horrible wire edge it's throat poppin sharp.

If you've got a stool and a sturdy beam in the kitchen, I'll send you a new rope.:)

Seriously!! Give it a chance. I'll bet that floppy, wirey, uneven handled Sod Buster will serve you well for years - possibly your lifetime.

It didn't take much to straighten the wire edge out. I'm not disappointed in the knife, just not impressed either. If I spent more than $25 on it, I'd probably be disappointed, but I didn't get anything more or less than I expected.

Oddly, the pin that the spring pivots on seems to have rotated a bit, and is no longer flush with the handle contours.

And don't worry, I'll use and abuse the knife. That's why I bought it - that and so I don't rust up my Red Neck, which I suppose is ironic, since that's why I bought the Red Neck. I guess I'm just not ready for that yet.

I do find it funny that my Case has a stiffer spring than my GEC. I keep reading about GEC nailbreakers, but the 4 GECs I have (62 whittler, 61 half congress, Conductor, and Bull Nose) are all very manageable. And the Case Sodbuster Jr is stiffer than all of them (still not a nailbreaker though). I've never handled a 73 though...

Good Aaron. That's what those knives are for - workem like mad. I've never had a problem with rust even when working in wet environments.

Just got my Case Sodbuster Jr. today. I immediately put it to work on some food prep. Made a pretty great sandwich and cut up my apple for lunch, and then used it to prep a steak for dinner later tonight. Made short work of everything. Nice little knife. I'm finding I like single blade folders quite a bit.

Nice ones Gec Fan! Case should make some more with stag and wood.

Today I carried my PARAPLUIE A L'EPREUVE Le Mineur(miners knife). It's French made with carbon steel and horn scales. The PARAPLUIE A L'EPREUVE mineurs are some of my favorite soddies, great ergonomics and the blade profile is probably my favorite , super thin making it a real slicer and just the right amount of point. This knife helped me open a package from the Netherlands today which contained some new production Fred.Herder Abr Sohn knives. They are made in Solingen and I'm starting to think that the H.Herder knives from previous post are made in the same factory since they are identical, I'll post comparisons later. Anyway, here is a pic.
