Traditional Of The Month: Sodbuster

Not exactly the pic I was hoping to get, life intrudes, had to make do with an indoor shot.

I'll try to do better later.... :D

The only one I have right now. I sort of over looked the pattern. But now that I have tried it, I like it.

Did a little trimming today.

Took the Moore Maker in yellow bone out today. This is my favorite handle material of all my soddies. This is made by Queen under contract for Moore Maker and the steel is 1095. I still need to get this thing a good patina, I'm not a polished blade fan on my soddies.

Great Sodbusters, I especially like that Miners' knife, and clutchcarter, that soddie by J.Oeser is terrific.

Just a yeller one for me so far this month, finally got around to dropping it in my pocket today.

I must have lucked out, this knife is nearly perfect. Centered blade, tight handles, just the right amount of snap and the only thing I've done to it is run it along the back of an old belt and I was shaving hair.

Awesome! I just was gifted a Bulldog Sodbuster from Duncan - via Ash - and then I learn that the TOTM is the Sodbuster!

I have been carrying the Bulldog since I received it last week - and I will carry it the rest of the month in honor of the Traditional..... Tradition!

I used the knife today to open another knife that came in the mail (a Busse ;^) ) - It is serving me well.

I can't believe I have been a fan all these years and this is the first Sodbuster I have ever owned.

There are some beautiful examples pictured in this thread - and I see even blue crap prefer a Sodbuster over claws.

best

Keith Johnson makes a nice looking Soddie, congrats on yours.

Those are some good looking custom Case Soddies Capt.

Today I carried my Loewen Messer (Lion Knife) German made with Carbon blade. Great knife!

The top Sodbuster I carried yesterday is a Celaya in stainless steel with stag handles. These are made in Spain and have a nice point on the blade and snap with authority!

The Bottom is a Robert Herder Windmühlenmesser (windmill knife) in Carbon Steel with olive wood for handles. These are made in Germany and are called Hippeknieps. These are great knives!

My one and only.

The tall, square spine makes a handy little spot to strike ferro rod. (the little discoloration came right off).

Good to see you posting again!

They're so 'fringe' they look like fish scales, interesting choice.:D

No Böker Sodbusters or Queen Tombstones in stag yet anyone? Great postings, thanks to all.

Regards, Will
