Traditionals and Cast Iron Cookware

Great Thread.
Attached is a Wagner we acquired with a property purchase. It is in as found condition. The camera makes more highlights appear than are there.

Excellent, though with the prices on some of the vintage stuff out there, are you sure you didn't aquire a property with the pan purchase?😆 There's still a few lifetimes worth of use in it.

Editied to add emoji.

Excellent point! Also included were a couple of well seasoned LODGE in good working condition that I like to use on the campfire. I know nothing of LODGE history, though the pans seem different than the ones I see at the local hardware store but not vintage age like the Wagner. Will get pictures at another time.

On a humorous note (at least to me) was that I had to take the Wagner pictures twice as I took the first set of photos with a SpyOpera and realized it wasn't a traditional, but its got me thinking that maybe it is?

Most of my accumulated cast iron is lodge, works great. They've been around for quite a while.

Not sure about the spyopera as I'm not familiar with the pattern. I'm pretty sure as long as it's a slip joint or lock back with no clip you're good to go. Guys post Roadies and propers on occasion. There's guidelines stickied on the first page of the sub. The GEC is a lovely partner to your old Wagner though. 👍

Edited for spelling.

Good rule of thumb is that if it has a pocket clip, thumb hole or means of one hand opening it's probably not going to be received well.
Even screwed assemby is iffy...
Lots of rules in these parts.

I was following the progress of 80-layer guy on Reddit as he slowly built that up on that inexpensive Victoria skillet. Now it has apparently gone viral.

I'd like to see him cook something in it.

Apparently cast iron is like any other hobby - there are people who collect, restore, do things like put 80 layers of seasoning on a $20 pan, pay $300 for a new boutique brand pan, or just cook stuff on their value priced Lodge or vintage family hand-me-down.

Kind of like pocket knives, I guess.

Still holding out for my back-ordered bargain priced Lodge set to show up. About a month from now, according to the dealer web site.
