Traditionals and Cast Iron Cookware

What brand is the trapper?
Not a favorite around here so I generally don't pose it on the show side... ;)
I thought with new ownership of the manufacturing it might gain some traction in the community so I overlooked the obvious novelty appearance and picked one up. So-so build quality on these first round releases.
Anyway I grabbed a couple of random tubes just to legitimize a little...

There were two Sticky Finger wing joints on the coast south of me, one in Wilmington and one in Myrtle Beach. I always looked forward to eating at them when in the areas. Sadly they are both gone now - good food and nice array of sauces. Good looking food and Trapper you have there. OH

Before and after, fried wild Turkey breast strips and asparagus. GEC 68 stag for the knife content.
I LOVE the deep chicken fryer skillets. I have 4 of them right now becuase I can't pass a good condition chicken fryer. Gave away probably 4 others we well to people wanting to try cast iron cooking. I think they are one of the best beginner options since they contain some of the mess when cooking with oil at high heat.

Ive never heard that.
Why is that?

"In general, it is OK to cook soup in cast iron. However, you may want to keep in mind that some ingredients should be used with caution in cast iron.

For example, acidic food and spicy foods may not be suitable for cast iron. The reason for this is because acidic foods (think tomatoes) can break down the non-stick oil layer and interact with the metal. This can cause metal particles to get into the food and cause a metallic taste (imagine a metallic flavored tomato soup!)."

Smaltz rue for chicken gravy... As usual the lighting in my kitchen is a bit wanting for a good photo.

The 88 and slip are here for a test drive courtesy of my friend sbh06 sbh06 , who has generously allowed me to put some miles on it.
No test drive my friend, don't even think about sending them back.
