Trappers

Here's a saddlehorn trapper by Mr. Ruple. This is not mine and the pic is from Guns & Knives. I love the big belly spey blade on trappers!

I like that spey blade also, the return of the swedge is upon us. Beautiful knife!

Check out that Remington Blues has.Elliot, you ever break that thing out and stick it in your pocket? What's the quality like on those old Rems?

It's a big, heavy knife. I think about six ounces as I recall. I've carried it but rarely do just because of the bulk. (It's more suited for a jacket pocket or a belt sheath imho.)

Quality is awesome. Springs are still flush and tight. Blades have near zero play and the steel is excellent. Thick slabs of bone. Hard to go wrong with an original Remington.

I recon this Trapper belongs in here as well. Kerry forged this one for me in 52100 and he left the perfect amount of belly to unzip flesh with..

HOLY SMOKES Anthony:eek: That is SWEEETTTT . Definetely a great hunter. The coloring is incredible ....

I had to go look, I only have one full size trapper left. It's an early Schrade-Walden UH. This thing is a cuttin machine, takes an edge like a razor..

Thanks Mike,

Kerry built that one from scratch for me at my request when my name finally came up on his famous list from wayyyyy back when. She really is a Jim Dandy! All the details are in the Kerry Hampton thread in the recent March posts from last month if your are interested.. The color in these photo's shows what her jigged bone looks like right at sunrise. The bone appears a kind of translucent during different times of the day in ambient sunlight and I agree with you that it really looks ! It just illustrates to me how well Kerry executes every stage of his craft.

I love your Schrade Trapper. I have one too. An older Schrade Trapper that I carry now and again that a very old and dear friend gave me several decades ago before he died. Its got the old carbon steel, milled liners, and run number etched inside the liners when the Schrade company guaranteed against loss of their knives.. And like you say, they get razor sharp..
