Trio Thursday

I gotcha, very nice set. I couldn't tell the length of the handle from the previous picture, but had a thought it could be the mini as the Wildlife and mini share very similiar looking profile.

Thanks, & no, that's the GB mini hatchet. It fits in the rear pocket of my jeans!

I cheeped out on the regular size hatchet & got a Husqvarna hatchet instead. It's not bad, but the blade geometry on the GB is miles ahead so I kinda regret getting the Huskie now. I save about half the energy even with my mini GB when cutting through limbs up to about 3".

Here you can see the size difference with a regular size hatchet, the handle on the Huskie is about 15"

Awesome set Will! That group pretty much covers the practical size range for everything you need to do with a Fiddleback. I really like the thicker natural liners on the Camp & Woodsman. All three of those have very nice spalting too.

Thanks Phil -- I fell into the trio unexpectedly, but I'm really excited to have a woodsman in wide-weave; its like having grip tape on it.

I decided on this trio for an overnighter in the woods tomorrow. I was tempted to take my Vic Spirit instead of the Enzo but I know I'd just feel naked without some scandi-sharpness.

Nice trio GB. Have fun in the woods! I'm jealous.

That is some sweet burlap Will. The wide weave on the Camp and Woodsman are really cool looking. And with thick liners? I'm guess those fit the hands nicely. Great spalting too. The Woodsman looks like it needs to get dirty. :)

Is it one of the Huskie's made by Wetterlings?

That's a nice set of burlap, Will. Like the 3D-like effect on the wide weave.

Well this is not a Nessmuk trio or even remotely close... but it's a Fiddleback trio!

I have heard that Wetterlings makes the Husky axes. I have a Husky splitting axe, and I love it. If the round is over 13" diameter, I use GB maul, but then go to the splitting axe. It is a lot lighter than the maul, as a result, I am more accurate in hitting the mark with it.

I had never seen that enzo scandi folder looks cool. Sounds like that s30v version is hard to get. Has it ever chipped on you?

Will, I love the burlap!!!! I think you need to get a better camera, your pics never do justice to your collection (no offense amigo).

Green and pointy trio:

Man, do I love all those knives!!! Great photo and I like the composition with the angle of the knives.

This is one insane set of hiking buddies. A bolstered scandi with green burlap, the BEST green colored burlap shadetree has ever made, and a hollow ground in stainless!!!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

No problem. It's hard to tell from pics how small it is even with the handle anyways, it looks bigger in pics than it really is ime. It does perform well above it's size though, but is great at small task as well. I actually peeled about a kg of potatoes with it last weekend just to see how it'd do & it worked pretty well.

Thanks man, I'll see if I can get some pics up this weekend so you can be there a little

I don't think so, but I'm not sure. It just says 'hand forged made in Sweden' plus the little Husqvarna logo on it if that means anything to you. But perhaps you're referring to the older model with a head shaped similar to the GB Wildlife hatchet & mini hatchet? This is the one that replaced that one in their line-up. I wanted one of the previous models originally but couldn't get one for a decent price when I was in the market for one unfortunately.
