Trio Thursday

Great setup Nathan! The color on the BC really pops, and you can't beat the SFA.

Sorry guys I lied yesterday, couldn't post after work as I didn't get back until 11PM due to some issues at work (though I came back to a wonderful surprise).

So here's my new trio. As the summer is coming to an end, I'm resting my GB Outdoor Axe and Bushcrafter to rest, and in comes the trusty GB SFA (Mine's also made by AS! Although I've ordered about 5 of these when I was shopping for them two years ago, the other 4 returned due to poor grain patter, and most seemed to be made by him) and Sneaky Pete in Maple Burl, 1/8", SFT.

Good setup Josh. Saw another AS made SFA tonight that was for sale. Prolific guy.

The All Orange Trio:

Fiskars X7 (great little hatchet for how cheap it is)
Orange SAK Farmer (limited run - get them while you can orange fans)
KE Bushie

OD Green is one of my favorites for handles. I also love a good wharnie. Trio with Arete, Carver, GEC #47 Viper:

Great bump Nathan! Gotta love OD green!

I cleaned up the IW knives today and got the idea for this fun (albeit a bit unconventional) trio!

Pretty sure it's only Weds, but it's been a long day and I felt like sharing some Shade Tree love. Happy early Trio Thursday.

And of course I love some shadetree.

I don't even know what day it is anymore, so when I actually get to see my knives during daylight, I take a pic and post it. Sorry to munge up the sequence. :) I need another Nessie so I can post a Hump Day pic on the right day.

Good lord WJT, I don't recall a picture of that IW BC, but that thing is just gorgeous. Such a sick looking trio man..

Thanks dude, the BC was a bladeshow acquisition -- I've posted some pics prior to this, but she'd been dirty from use ;). Truly is one of my favorite designs -- Andy did this one justice.

Is the top one a Kepart? Man that handle material is beautiful! Nice trio. Fiddleback never ceases to amaze me.:thumbup:

The signatures on the GB axes refers to the blacksmith, i.e. the person who made the head. Choosing handle and assembling it all is done by another person.
The handle is bought by GB from a outside company manufacturing them in US hickory to GB specs.
So, you can't blame poor old AS for the handle quality.

And some bonus shots from the trio.

Camp Knife bites deep on a chop:

Busy bees are out in force:

Gorgeous photos Nathan! The shot of the purple blossom with the bee is lovely. All the new African Blackwood has a rich warm look to it. The Camp Knife is not too shabby either...

sweet setup Nathan, man I'd love to see someone building primitive shelters out of the camp knife one of these days :)

sweet touch with the GEC too, proudly made in PA :D

Hi, I wasn't blaming AS or anyone at GB at all. I was just saying Nathan (thurin) has a SFA made by AS as well as I do, and that seems to be consistent with my past experiences in finding a lot of AS made SFAs (I have 5 different GB axes/hatchets, so I'm not new to GB or axe purchasing in general). This is the third time in a single week where people misunderstood what I said....must be a sign to shut my yap for awhile.

Nice trio Nathan! Are you having fun with your camp knife?

Thanks Tod. Just started getting it dirty. Loving it so far. It's definitely fun.

Thanks Phil! I've taken a liking to the African Blackwood. Hopefully you'll see more of it in my collection in the future. Saying "the Camp Knife is not too shabby either" is the understatement of the year. Thanks brother! :)

Thanks Josh. One of these days I'm going to go nuts and run off into the mountains with all my gear and become a hermit. I just hope my sanity kicks in enough to remember a camera so I can send back some pics.

Ed G got me hooked on GEC. I've started building up a meager collection, focusing on handle materials that match my favorite Fiddies. Of course, I'm not going to find any in Shadetree, but OD Green, African Blackwood, Bocote, Canvas, etc will keep me busy.

Hmm, maybe I need to hook fod up with GEC...

That new Esquire looks sweet Tod! I really like the lime green pinstripe with the Green Herringbone burlap. That is a sharp combo.

Congratulations again for scoring that one.

Phil
