Yeah see, I'm getting older and see this as a very nice trio. To heck with a bunch of chain sawing and chopping with big axes. I had enough of that in my youth! :D

Very Astute Mist! :D As much as I hate to admit it you're pretty much spot on. This is a great thread and I could come up with plenty of combos but is seriously one of my favorites. I'm a little old school and a huge fan of bone and stag. Scagel knives are a part of my Michigan roots. I have saws, and axes and big choppers but this combo is pure fun to me.

Current setup I am planning on running this spring for fast & light

Planned setup for fun :D

How's this?

I found these in the basement (minus the bushboot)! Apparently the old-lady that owned this house before was a prepper. There were also a few dozen jars of canned water and two large trash cans full of beans. She was ready and now so am I !!!

I wonder if the rings on the nunchackau are for the number of people she schwacked who tried to mess with her canned water & beans. Awesome find.

Great pics everyone!

Duder; She seems to have settled in fine here in Norway, doesn't seem to mind the cold either :D

MajorD; how are you getting along with the small Wetterlings? I have one at one of the mountain cabins, but it has always felt a bit too small so I usually put it's bigger sibling in my pack.

Yeah, I have had to minimize my personal tools of late. Working out in the harsh winter here is taxing enough just taking the tools out that I am testing. I always have items that I trust on me as fail safes to use for my survival if something goes wrong and I have previously found the point of failure in the test pieces. So far that has only ever happened with a few prototypes being pushed to their very limits to define that limit, and I was closer to home and in a warmer climate. It would be somewhat of a nightmare here, to be out in this winter weather without backup tools. I am really looking forward to warmer and longer days so that I can get more done each day, and once again spend some days out with just my personal tools of choice :)

Mist, I moved to Chaska MN in the early 1990s after living in the subtropics for 5 years. Believe me when I tell you the first winter is the worst winter. Next winter you will be on the ice fishing praying for -20 to make it thicker.

-20 is actually a great temperature, it's not too cold to go out, and not too hot that you're sweating while hiking. When you get to -40, that's when you start reconsidering the life choices that brought you there. You also learn that windchill temperatures are what Southerners use to make themselves seem tougher, windchill doesn't actually count.
