Trio Thursday

I would like to see what you come up with on it. I have one of those as well with the false grind. Part of my ever expanding Men in Black collection.

Nothing fancy .. just pretty much the same style I always build, but more narrow. I'm took the HB-2 design and lengthened it for 4" blades. Not too much, so there's plenty of handle exposure. I'd made ONE and was carrying my Kephart in it as an EDC while in instructor/trainer attire.

Sweet Recluse bonafide:thumbup:

Here is a trio that isn't carried together:

Here's my humble addition for this upcoming Spring Summer:
-1/8" 01 Convex Bushcrafter, Stabilized Cherry crotchwood over natural canvas with a white g10 pinstripe over Tapered Tang.
- Gransfors Bruks Outdoor Axe
- Victorinox Swisstool Spirit X

Prior to this year, I was using the GB Wildlife Hatchet during warmer months, and the GB Small Forest Axe during the colder months. Trying out the Outdoor Axe for the first time this year. Its overall weight is lighter than the Wildlife Hatchet, so less fatigue when i'm choking down and doing finer chores, but its longer handle (it's in between Wildlife Hatchet and the Small Forest Axe) combined with a slightly thicker blade geometry makes it versatile for both chopping and splitting (at least in theory...I'll find out I guess). May also be carrying a Bahco Laplander and a Great Eastern #73 Jack Knife.

Dude, the cherry crotchwood scales on your bushcrafter are insane; very nice knife!

Thanks! It was love at first sight for me and I was very lucky to have logged in as soon as Andy posted it. Got it during the Fall last year, have been babying it through winter (nothing more than a minor re-profiling of the edge on some water stones and feathersticking), but now it's time to let it spread its wings.

That is a trio after my own heart, GB hatchet, Spirit MT and a Fiddleback BC, and that's all I need.

Thanks Mac! Seeing as we live in the same state, good to hear you'd pick similar set of tools. I see you're a fan of the Spirit as well, it's served me well for couple of years now.

I like the Victornox line and the Spirits so much better than the LM MTs. I have and use the LMs, but usually only when I know I will be getting very physical in the woods, and if it gets lost, oh well.

Agreed. I had issues with my old Wave pinching my palm when I'd use the plier. The curved handle of the Spirit mitigated that issue for me. The scissors not opening as wide, and a slightly softer edge on the knife (then again, I would only use the knife on the MT as a last resort) are the only things that I'd like to see an improvement on.

cm80: love that Bushcrafter! Someday I'd like to pick up a Gransfors Bruk.

I'll throw this up now since I haven't been seeing daylight lately for taking any pics.

All Brown Handled Trio (not exactly a practical trio, but what the heck, it's got a theme):

Dang, I bet that Turley will remove a chunk of wood on a chop. No wonder you haven't sharked a Bishop yet. No hole in your arsenal.

Thanks Thurin, that is one awesome and unique Turley you got there, what's the name of the model? Never seen one like that before. And the Hunter looks pretty dang sexy with the polish on the blad.

It is a beast. I still would love a Bishop at some point. That is a grail for sure.

It's the Recondo Bolo Machete. I love the Hunter. I use it all the time in the kitchen and spend even more time polishing it. Just one of those idiosyncrasies. Some I let patina. The hunter stays shiny. I think it started when I got some aspen sap all over it and didn't like what it was looking like.
