Trophy Room - Hunting and Fishing Pics

I went to the Texas parks and wildlife fish hatchery were my cousin works. He took me around and helped me find it. Its a fresh water drum fish. And no we didn't eat our catches. No fires where we were. It was super dry. We seen a lot of fish in the water but couldn't get them to hit. Lots of spotted gar, fresh water drum and carp. We saw just a couple large mouth swim by.

I was just reading this thread and thats definately a drum. Its the freshwater version of a Redfish

Nice. From what I can tell they're good fighters, but not so good eaters? I think I caught one out of the Missouri River in Montana when I was a kid when we were fishing for shovelnose sturgeon.

He was a fighter. Fun catch. My cousin took me to a giant aquarium and said showe which one. The picture really don't do much for him.

Hunting season is basically here! I am bumping this thread to remind everyone to post pics here. I am scouting tomorrow and taking my Bear Montana longbow out for its first hunt on monday morning! I am stoked

Heck yea! I got two good shooters here right behind the house. I'm not up to what I think I should be for bow season but I got a little more time.

Forgot about this thread or I'd have posted my fish from yesterday here.
Caught 3 more today largest being 19 1/2 inches and smallest 14.
18 fillets in two days was awesome I was getting low on bass.

Its still here if you wanna post. Lol. This is probably my favorite survive thread. Just getting to see everyone's catches and kills.

Hehe I was lazy and didn't document todays catch. One of these days I gotta get an Iphone I always borrow the wifes.
Going Walleye fishing soon here in October hope to get some of those on here.

Good luck out there everybody. We've been hitting it pretty hard for bear with some catches but no kills. Hopefully soon.

Well the baby was up all night and so was my wife, so scouting went on the back burner. Maybe tomorrow or tuesday. Its irritating life and work get in the way of working out and hunting/fishing!

edited to say my attempt at an embed didnt work... Heres a link...

A quick flick of practice with my Bear Montana. It is 55 pounds at 28 inches. My draw is close to 30 so it is closer to 60 pounds. I shoot really heavy arrows. It seems to like 10-11 grains per pound of draw weight. Hopefully the video works. I was shooting at some plastic jugs and using blunt tips. This was about a 25 yard shot. You can hear my 4 year old son who was very impressed with the shot!

Nice shooting Riz. Are you hunting whitetail with it?

I've been able to take some ruffed and blue grouse (.22) and we whacked a couple coyotes while bear hunting. Thirteen days to deer season here. Looking forward to it.

I plan on hunting whitetail. I could care less about a buck or a doe. With a longbow and no sights, I am going to shoot the closest deer I see.

I got 5 days to hit it hard after work but I definitely don't see me shooting that good. I'm lucky to hit the neon green 2x2 box. Riz would be crying laughing if he seen me shot. I'm to embarrassed to put a picture of the sad little group I shot.

Here's a couple of pics off the game cam. A pack of 3 coyotes and some night pictures of a bobcat.

Pretty decent sized bobcat?

I got a coyote opening day of gun season(deer) last year. The sucker watched me for almost an hour and kept inching closer. I tried making light noises to run him off. So I finally had to put a stop to his inching.

This guy ain't huge but he's a shooter. The deer here have been putting on better weight as of the last few years. I'm happy to see that.

Heck yeah that's a nice buck. Would be a shooter for sure for me. Yeah that appears to be a good bobcat. I've got some more pictures of the coyotes behind that same bush, and the bobcat looks to be a little taller, so probably a tomcat.

We have bobcats but its pretty rare to catch a blimps of them. I can count on one hand how many I've seen since childhood around my house.
