Truck Knives, What do you carry?

I realize its slightly off topic, but are there any legal repercussions of carrying a large knife in a car? I was thinking about hiding either a Livesay Woo necker or a RC-4 in my car but I dont know if there'd be any penalties if I got pulled over. Would it need to be in a bag to make it seem like its part of a BoB or can I keep it within easy reach?

There is the magic number of 4 inches that usually, anything longer than 4 inches is not permitted to be carried on your person or about your person. Oh, and even if it is under 4 inches, if it is designed as a fighting knife (there are many characteristics that would constitute being a fighting knife), it would still be illegal.

Now, let's say you have it in your car. As long as it is not in easy reach (yeah, maybe keep it in a BOB), it cannot be considered on, or about your person (which means it is not tucked under the seat, etc.).

Hoped this helped.

never get pulled over, i drive slow in my old jeep, either way i do a lot of woodswork and landscaping so i feel like i got a good excuse its just a tool along with the cold steel shovel and gerber backpacking saw they all see lots of use the wear is apparent, i don't have the outcast in their for self-defense or anything like that. still i dread the day i do get pulled over but i got tools of all kinds in my jeep screwdrivers, pliers, crowbar, cheap-o axe. all that could be used as a weapon. not to meation the jeep itself, itd rather get stabbed by a phillips head than hit by a car. i guess its a fine line a lot common law-abiding citizens walk. thankfully i got good balance.

This is not true. The maximum blade length allowed varies greatly from state to state, and from city to city. Some places you can carry anything up to and including a short sword without raising eyebrows. Other places, you'll get in deep trouble with anything over 2". It all depends on where you live.
This particular discussion belongs in a different forum, however.

Generally speaking, in most parts of the US, you can carry anything you want in your car, blade-wise, so long as it's not somewhere you can quickly get to it. Keep the big blades in the trunk, or behind the seat in a pickup, and you should be fine. I got pulled over in Atlanta recently (where 3" is the limit, and it is illegal to carry over 2" blades "in public spaces") and the cop found my 10.5" Ka-bar Kukri in my trunk. He didn't bat an eye- there was no problem.

i have a CS peacekeeper. i forget the model number....its about a 7.5" blade. also a LM wave and a Kabar small USMC fixed blade.
