Tuna Valley Photography

Just have this one so far - it’s a Titusville Cutlery branded one but still fits here I guess.

These are definitely nice knives!

Yes I think it fits here. Different brand, but made on the same patterns by the same maker. You have some lovely ivory on that one!

I’ve been taking a close look at the Elk Stag & Copper Big Easy’s. Might treat myself after the holidays, so many top notch choices.

as a watch collector both pocket and wrist, id have loved these, if they didnt come with that EO cut, and more price accessible
There were 5 patterns released in that Timekeeper handles. I have 4 of them, still on the hunt for the 5th. I'll try to get some photos of my other 2 sometime soon.
Absolute favorites.👍🏻
They are really unique, and were very popular with the steampunk crowd.

Yesterday I was shown a Tuna 2 blade Jack style knife with end cap.... The liners were bent at 90° then the end cap was brazed or soldered to them.... The owner said Tuna copied it from an old Schrade design....

Have you seen this type of attachment in your collection?... If so I'd appreciate a bit of info on it..... The knife was made for, I believe, Wolverine knife club....
Thanks,
Brent

I'm not aware of any Tuna Valley knives being made for any clubs. If possible I would love to see a photo of the knife you are describing. There are a few prototypes out there of knives that were tried but never made into a production run, but if I understand you correctly I have never saw a knife that fits your description.

Also, I see some "counterfeit" Tuna Valley knives are being made from leftovers from the Queen bankruptcy and are being sold on Ebay now. Technically not counterfeit since they are actual TV parts, however they were not made and sold and certified by the Tuna Valley brand.

Thank you for the reply..... I have requested pictures of the knife in my discussion..... I'll share when I receive them....

Yes, the whole issue of Tuna is confusing to me..... AFAIK, Gilbert Cooper bought all the machinery at the Queen auction... Courtney Daniels(Knife Girl) and family bought the parts inventory and peddles them on Ebay..... Additionally Courtney and Family own Tuna and sell complete knives through various outlets incl the big auction house.... The old Cutler from Queen apparently now works for Daniel's out of a building in Titusville and cranks out Tuna and a couple other brands which the Daniel's sell.... There are likely a couple other twists to the story that I'm missing.....

So how would I know how to get a pedigreed Tuna that wasn't made out of rejected Queen parts?

Correct, Cooper bought nearly all of the Queen bankruptcy contents. The Tuna Valley brand was not part of the Queen company, so it did not go through the bankruptcy. The old master cutler from Queen/Ontario opened a custom knife shop in Titusville, and he makes a majority of the DFKB knives now.

All Tuna knives made from 2012-present come with a COA and Tuna Valley tube and black velvet sleeve. Even prototypes come with everything. If you find a knife that doesn't have those, it could be not-authentic, or it could be that the previous owner threw out COA/Tube/Pouch. If you aren't sure, shoot me a message and I can usually verify it, as I have a majority of the knives released, or information about every knife released. I also can contact Ryan Daniels to get verification if needed.

One good thing about Tuna Valley, not many patterns were made each year. And not many knives were made in each pattern. So it's not too hard to track the entire catalog.

Well..... I'm getting ready to eat a plate of crow.... Turns out the knife isn't a Tuna Valley but rather a Canal Street...... Sorry.....
I'm posting a picture showing the liner to end cap attachment for general interest....
No harm done! I have never saw a knife with that construction before. That is a really interesting way of getting the butt plate on there.

I was eyeballing this one, but never pulled the trigger. I’m kicking myself now.
I believe dealer Plumbob still has 1 left available. Only 15 were made, so pretty rare. I like it, built on the barlow frame, but turned into a jack style knife with the end cap bolster.
