TV series REALLY worth owning on DVD.

my children (all girls) love the brady bunch...i try to be in another room (or preferably another state) when they watch it

as a family we like "little house on the prairie" and "the cosby show"

the only tv show i watch on dvd is "band of brothers"

Sealab 2021
Aquateen Hunger Force
Simpsons
Robot Chicken
Family Guy

For some reason I cant stand much non-animated tv
I barely ever catch even the animated shows since hardly ever watch tv. It would be great to have them on dvd.

Edit: I also loved the Band of Brothers, but that is more of a movie than a show IMO- I rented them all and watched them, like a really excellent, long movie.

The ones i have:
-Family Guy
-CSI
-Tru Calling (i'm just a big fan of Eliza Dushku)

The ones i want to get:
-House
-Dead Zone (just started following it in the 3rd season...want to watch it from the start)
-The Shield
-if they ever come out with one, i'd like to get Chicago Hope....i loved this show ....better than E.R.
-Fawlty Towers
-Keeping Up Appearances (oh no....it's the bucket woman)

LOL, watched every episode - to the dismay of my wife. The fact that they cancelled it just when it was getting intriguing was not cool though.

I am thiking of getting Spooks on DVD.

Yes. Towards the end of the season it got really interesting. How they had the evil & good thing going was great.

I don't know why they cancel shows so fast now. Not even giving it a chance.

My list;
Twin Peaks.
Millennium.
The Prisoner.
Saphire & Steel.
Quatermass (The Thames Telivision seies from the late seventies).
Monty Python.
Fawlty Towers.

A few i personally like are:

1. Millenium
2. Smallville
3. DeadWodd
4. Twilight Zone
5. Kung Fu

Yeah, I like that one a lot too. I aspire to be Onsloe one day. And also Are You Being Served.

Hey, guilty pleasures, OK?! They are warmly entertaining each time I watch them so they would make great DVD choices.

So far, cmd, you and I are the only fans of Babylon 5 in this thread. Seems a shame as that was, far and away, the very best s-f ever to make tv. My favorite character was Susana Ivanova, who had the absolute best lines in the show and, maybe, ever on tv. here are a couple:

(Ianova, in Babylon control to a scientific survey ship that got too close to the planet below them and was hit by a missile from that supposedly dead planet.)
"And one more thing. On your way back I'd like you to memorize the Babylon 5 mantra.
Ivanova is always right.
I will listen to Ivanova.
I will not ignore Ivanova's recommendations.
Ivanova is god.
And, if this ever happens again, Ivanova will personally rip your lungs out.
Babylon control out."
(Ivanova looks up toward the ceiling of the room.)
"Just kidding about the god bit. No offense."

(Sinclair, Ivanova, and Garibaldi are back in C&C, discussing the Babylon Curse, when Thomas' ship leaves the station. It enters the jumpgate. Thomas had believed that, if he left Bab5, it would vanish or be blown up just like the first 4 Babylon Stations.)
"No boom?" asks Sinclair. "No boom," answers Garibaldi.
"No boom today," Ivanova corrects them. "Boom tomorrow. There's always a boom tomorrow." Sinclair and Garibaldi shake their heads and leave.
"What?" Ivanova asks. "Look, someone's got to keep some damned perspective around here. One of these days... boom!"

Did anyone besides me ever keep an eye on a series called Tour of Duty. I didn't see every episode, maybe 1/2 at best, but from what I saw it was really excellent.

Also, does anyone think Smallville is worth it? I only saw one episode.
Thanks, WM, I forgot about "Tour of Duty". That was a very well-done show that presented a very good and balanced view of the GIs in 'Nam. Another equally good VietNam War show from that same period was "China Beach" about the Medevac Hospital at China Beach near DaNang up in I Corps. It starred, among others, the luscious Dana Delaney as Nurse McMurphy. She beats the Hell out of "Hot Lips" Houlihan from "M*A*S*H" anytime as far as I am concerned.

Babylon 5 was a great series that I really enjoyed. As was the first season of
a show called "Wiseguy" and the Sopranos of course.

"No one comes back from Zahadum"

oh...another sci-fi series i'd like to own is Farscape. I really liked the first few seasons.

I used to watch a lot of Babylon 5 but in the earlier seasons. Those were good.

The thing about Bab5 is that it was always intended to be a five year story arc. When UPN pulled the plug on it during the fourth year, they did a final for that year that was a quickie wrap-up of the series only to have TNT pick it up for that final year. The problem was that, in the interim, they had lost Claudia Christian (Susana Ivanova), who had moved on to other things. You really should try to see all five seasons, though.

I always liked Claudia Christian in Babylon 5. I've always felt like she was a dominatrix sorta woman in that. Very bossy and kinda funny sometimes. Seven of 9 is kinda like that as well.

I'm glad I started this thread! I never watched much Wiseguy, but what I did see I really liked. I saw the one with Debrah Harry in it! Great Episode, and great music in that one too!

Yeah the Steelgraves were prety good characters. But both Wiseguy and
Tour of Duty suffered the same fate. the stars both held out for more cash
and when they came back the shows just weren't the same.

Far Scape was good to as was the Highlander series. I know the 2nd and
3rd films were not chock full of continuity but its Sci fi what do you expect?
The TV series was still good, especially the European versions. ;)

Gotta have:

Simpsons
Scrubs
Seinfeld
X-files (I missed at least two years worth while it was running)
Star Trek Voyager (only the seasons with 7 of 9)
Farscape (only Sci-Fi show I was able to catch in it's entirety) Never had a chance to see B5, or Galactica, or SG1.
