Finally getting around to watching season 3 of House of Cards. I think they film these things to be binge watched.

I should be asleep.

And yet, I push play.

Seem to have misplaced my black Kabar dozier folding hunter... It's by far one of the most inexpensive folders I have(had?:() but it gets carried A LOT more than my more expensive ones. Sigh :(

I'll just leave this here.

How much awesome can you fit in one video?

One of mine too! I love Ravel! I used to go to the free symphony in Chicago (Grant Park, now Millennium Park) every time they had Ravel's pieces. It was usually 2-3 times a season!

This was of course also when I was 12-15 years old and would go by myself because the rest of the family didn't particularly care for Ravel.

Big thumbs up, sir!

On a sidenote: tried to watch 2001: a space oddysey again last week. Nope, still sucks. 20 minute long scenes of cardboard space planes ad nausaum, 15 minute sunrise... no thanks. The music is good, but I don't have to watch a movie for that. I can listen to it in my car. Damn that film frustrates the sh*t out of me.

Well, the house hunting continues. We had put an offer on a place with the condition that the house would pass a home inspection. We knew the house was not perfect, but we were willing to deal with some of the issues because the property also had a 32' x 18' garage that we were going to turn into a climbing training facility. Unfortunately (or fortunately) the house inspection turned up some massive issues that would cost a fortune to repair. Not good. We pulled our offer last night and got drunk. Dodged a bullet, but we will miss that garage - it was the only part of the property that passed the home inspection! lol

Wish I could post an olfactory clip right now. Just arrived in the Vietnamese quarter of Boston-Dorchester. Very....unique - tho not unpleasant.

JT, sorry to hear about the pooch.

Thank you! The pain of losing my buddy is receding... I'm now firmly in the mode of remembering all the fun times we had together :)

Also the other day I realized after 7 years in the military and many more being broke as a joke; I have never tried SPAM.
I made a fried SPAM and tomato sammich. Pretty good. That sodium though!

My dear sainted mother liked SPAM very much. Now and then she would slice it up and sautee it in a pan, sometimes with eggs, and shrooms and onions if she was really feeling fancy, toast some bread and make sandwiches for us. Me and Dad were always like, "Well, thanks... I guess. It beats having to make supper for ourselves." :p

Despite having grown up with it, I've never understood the appeal. Far as I can tell, it's just greasy and disgusting. But hey... whatever works for ya! :)

Mom also whipped up a batch of fried liver 'n' onions from time to time. :barf: Dad never failed to run like hell, take me with him, and go to McDonald's. :D

Just scored this beast. BHK Scatty Crafter:

That's very, very nice. My hat is off to the maker.

ceramic platen and 1" thick insulboard arrived today - 20 pounds of satanite should be here tomorrow....

Watch out for that Vik guy. Sooner or later he's gonna knock us all on our behinds with some cool knives...

day 2 of the "tool fair" - went for a long lunch

poked some cool things

came home with most of my tractor money :D got off light.

more importantly: made some contacts, got business cards, learned some things...

now i know where to go for parts... down the road without going out of my way. or where to dump boxes of stuff i don't want :D

and what to avoid :D stanley #1 plane. $999 all day long. stanley #2 plane. $250 all day long. avoid :D unless they are $10. model 41 fillister plane. also $999 all day long. crazy, those people.

now. the the man cave! build things! but first a zzzzzz nap.

so, i'm plotting some projects. maybe they'll be Becker activities... i was thinking bird houses. use a single 2x4. or a nice storage/presentation box (mmm, kukri sized)... or ... i dunno. some projectsmight even involve Becker (and/or KaBar) knives.

definite things to do: make a bodger/shaver bench, some work tables, some shelves or storage solutions... bucket list stuff, but that leads to more antics...

project ideas!

but tonite, a beer, some reading in the fresh air, some more study. then probably bed. tired.

tool fair day 3 - might go. might not. could be fun to see how the auction has progressed and look at the super rare stuff ($90,000+ for a plane? seriously?)...

sunday Sunday SUNDAY - mmm, gun show :D
