dang it!
you guys ruined page 3 -- you scared off all the pretty ladies!

I wish until USPS got their shit straight, companies would stop handing out tracking numbers from them. Or really stopped using them all together, but just stop sending me the USPS tracking info. Just be like "Yo, your shit's on it's way, it'll be there when it gets there" and be done with it, cause this whole "It's being shipped USPS Priority 2-Day Mail, your tracking number is 9484502947547302sjduelsu92474020" is annoying as all crap cause it's NEVER 2 days anymore, and even still the tracking doesn't get updated till 2 weeks later!

keep it up and I will pay to have your name changed to Zardoz.
just sayin'

Yep. Checked my ZT tracking number all day. Nothing. I appreciate the number and all but it just makes waiting on stuff harder when it doesn't update.

That's the first problem, you're only drinking beer! Once you get into that moonshine and jack, you'll be whistlin' a different tune!
Got an update right after I posted this. Estimated delivery is the 10th.
Mine is SUPPOSED to be here tomorrow... SUPPOSEDLY.

So, this condition likely won't be ending for my 15 year old any time soon?

Negative sir. Mine started at around seven...maybe sooner. The earliest was when he was still in a high chair and I said "Be careful, don't spill your drink"
He looked me in the eye, locked in, turned the cup completely over then sat it down without breaking eye contact. So, yeah...no

I would have picked my cup up and poured it on his little head without breaking eye contact LOL

Kids can be awesome... I like messing with mine.

Haha yeah, that's the best part about having your own! Luckily my daughter got my sense of humor and she can totally hang. My son got the wife's, or lack there of. That's prob what screwed him up lol. I grew up with aunts and uncles not much older than me and everybody was smartasses and ball busters but all in good fun and can handle it and take a joke. That goes a long way ESP in adult life when dealing with jackasses. I think she's gonna be just fine.

You guys are coming up with some solid finds on the old tools. It gets in your blood. Used to be easy, not so much now.

kinda weird, but i'm finding more the more i look... esp by being sneaky.

turns out too one of the nation's biggest galoot tool dork's is a mere hour from me.

and in less than two weeks, a MASSIVE tool auction is coming soon. probably too poor to win anything, but the catalog is a wonder of wonders i hear.

I have another #78, but it's missing everything but the spur & the iron. So basically a simple rabbet plane. I didn't look carefully enough before I purchased the spokeshaves & the block; the #51 is missing the thumb screw & the block has had the cap iron repaired. Both still functional, better than functional with some tuning. Along with all my other tools that need tuning. ....

i'm more interested in having working tools, even with tuning, that have a mint set of type 12.5 model xxx twin turbo wonder yam yams that i never use :D

It's only Tuesday, and we're out of surplus Easter candy.

You bought candy before Easter/Valentines/Halloween? Dude...

Hmm. Contemplating whether or not to put a lanyard on my ZT 0560 when I get it. Thoughts?

Here's my thought... should you ever find yourself field-dressing a game bird/animal at dusk, and your knife slips from your hand among the muck and goo, a lanyard will make it a LOT easier to retrieve the knife without accidentally grabbing the sharp blade and cutting the heck out of yourself.

Which in turn will require leaving the game animal, getting medical attention, then going back to the game animal with a basically useless, stitched and heavily-bandaged hand, only to find that coyotes already nommed the choice cuts, ruined the hide, and spilled various horrible crap you don't want all over whatever's left, while you were busy getting stitched up because you're too dumb to not cut yourself.

I've not done that myself, but I've seen the results when others did it, and it wasn't pretty. They were all reaallly pissed-off about not just having a thong/lanyard/loop to hang onto, and pull simply it back without slicing their favorite biscuit-grabber open by mucking around in a pile of guts for a lost, sharp knife...

Lanyards? Yes.

On blades under ~7" i dont use lanyards too often... But on choppers i do (most the time). But im talking just a basic loop for safety.

I have put nice lanyards with fancy custom made beads on knives of all different sizes several times... They always come off after doing any type of real work with the knife. Nice for pictures though.
