TX-Izula, look out for this one

Sorry for your luck Hal. I hope this doesn't dissuade you from dealing with new members as I was a new member 6 months ago without a single feedback. I'm at 50+ positive transactions thus far.

Can't let one bad apple spoil the bunch. Add conditions and keep sharp.

Certainly not. I'll definitely be adding some conditions. I get it, some guys are new and $100 is a lot for a knife but when I was new I got a feel for the forum and how it operated before I started buying. I just expect others to have done their own due diligence before expecting the rules and informal protocols to change.

Absolutely the same here. I couldn't tell you how long I was lurking prior to finally making my account. When I finally did I asked as many questions as I could and accepted the answers with open arms. Learned from those who already know.

I'm glad no one in this situation seems to be out of any money or time.

Best,
Chris

The telling part in the OP's post for me; "chance to make this right by working something out" specifically a discount based on nothing but BS.....

My vote is still in for paying members ONLY allowed to do any type of transaction on this forum.
(That guarantee's nothing, but it's as close as we will get)

I would rather have less knife people to sell to then more issues.....

That is exactly why I shut down and refuse to deal with him any longer.

It looks like in this case, PayPal F&F was actually a good thing. Thanks for the heads up.

I have dealt with Hal a few times also and it's been smooth. Oh btw Hal that flashlight I sold you yesterday has chips around the lense but it still does what is intended to do. Sorry about no posting that :D. (My attempt at humor of course..the flashlight is new so no post sale discounts)

Hilarious, that's okay I paid you in Mexican Pesos. Are you sure about the adjustment? I was thinking of sending you MORE money, I guess if you don't want it that's fine. :)

Hal we very much appreciate the heads up! Your truly one of the good guys!

City and WTLJ, I appreciate the kind words and I feel the same about you guys, I deal with confidence.

In my opinion you should have to pay for a membership to buy from the exchange....

No need for that rule, start today, add it as a sales condition for the knives you sell now. It will shrink your pool of buyers, but it'll work if you've got a hot product.

Well to be fair I have paid two years consecutively but didn't this year because I'm done selling for a while and can't buy membership right now. It'd be lame if I was excluded from buying because I didn't renew my subscription this year. Im a great customer, ask around ;)

I dont think you should have to pay to buy knives. That's silly and forcing a lot of good peeps away. You always run the risk of dealing with a dbag. I think conditions should be fine. If you really want to cover your butt and you are the good guy, only accept money orders or cash ;)

Negative. While i have been a paid member here before... i do all my transactions on another forum because thats exactley how they do things(paid members only allowed to buy/sell) I love bladeforums and its just my personal choice to do my business transactions else where

Your prerogative. I still don't see how that has anything to do with what I said.

your comment was about not understanding why people should have to be a paid member in order to use the exchange in any way....... I made comments based on my opinions of that just like you did. It's proven else where that having people purchase specific memberships in order to have purchasing and selling powers is something that makes them atleast think twice about doing shady business.... you will always have your exceptions. My point is that every time I turn around there is a negative thread here on bladeforums. Negative threads are a scarcity in places where memberships are required to have access to buy/sell..... YMMV buts when it's proven to work, and just not your cup of tea.... it doesn't make it wrong.

You can usually weed through the bad buyers/sellers by just looking at their post history, feedback, and join date. sure that wont ALWAYS work, but those same people could buy a cheap membership and still make a lot of profit from 1 scam.

But you gotta deal the way that makes you comfortable! I've personally never had an issue on here in terms of buying/selling except the one time I was supposed to ship a knife the day after my 21st birthday.... long story short, I lost 2 days of my life in a post party haze and guy got his knife, and was happy and understanding :)
