These are the colors that speak to me when I think about Japanese culture, especially the sword on the right. Cinnabar is the actual color I'd most like to see, especially if it has gold lightning through it, kintsugi style.

I'm picturing vermillion red scales with gold veins and titanium nitrided gold tsuba (guard), kashira (pommel) and fasteners. Perhaps a black hi (fuller) in a satin finished blade (wishful thinking). The saya would be black with gold veins and a matching vermillion kojiri (end cap).

Bill (Dynamax) could fashion a special black leather belt loop with tooled dragon's head that would be kept in place by the kurikata (knob) on the saya, ambi of course 'cause I'm a lefty but leaving it to my righty son who trained in kenjutsu and kendo.

Was that too much information??? I'm
obsessing now and a bit of drool is escaping my mouth as I fantasize.

That is the single sexiest picture I've ever seen.

Your idea and color scheme sound incredible! I'd love to do something like that, the only issue will be cost and then also demand. The gold veins might be hard to achieve as well, but I'm always down for a project.

One of my favorite things about this model is that we can get crazy with materials, and since everything will be take-down on the handle construction, I can make entire full Tsuka assemblies and ship them separately.

If price point is not a limiting factor, I'd love to do some of these truly custom and have fun with it.

Wait, what? You... you broke a K20??? 🤯

Everything has some form of a failure rate, even with perfect manufacturing protocols. Could be user error or just random chance and probability. Make 1,000 of something, odds are, 1 of them will have a problem. You still have a 99.9% success rate. One of my customers, not sure of his forum user name now, but his youtube channel is @scrawnylumberjack had one of my TGM machetes snap on his first chop. OUCH.

That was my first ever failed blade and a total punch in gut. I sent it to Peters for analysis and they couldn't find anything wrong. Brad Stallsmith (head of Peters Blade Division) told me that several well known makers had 3V blades snap without an obvious cause and it was fairly common among top makers. Sometimes, they broke before they made it into circulation. Othertimes, not. Gotta take the good with the bad. When it gets to this level of highly specialized metallurgy, things have a way of happening. Thats why we have a warranty.

Then I had an entire batch of 20 Nitro V Fell Beasts be recalled. Again, thats what the warranty is for 😅 👍

Oh yeah, it can definitely happen. Sad when it does too. BTDT. First I've heard of any K20 failure though.

I read about your bad batch of the Nitro V Fell Beasts. Talk about OUCH!!! 🤮

It was a dismal situation. I was in law school, about to sit for the bar, broke as a joke, and had to recall 20 blades. To make matters 10X worse, the 52100 I replaced the Nitro V with was also bad. So I had to refund or replace 40 blades total. I actually quit knife making for 5 years after that experience.

Okay, cool. I’m digging the copper version. Can we choose the blade finish too or does it have to be a copper finish blade?

I'm going to do all the blades with a stonewashed finish and will have full satin finish as a very limited option. If there's a ton of interest in full satin, Ill open it up, but it will be costly.

Normally doing a belt satin finish isn't very hard for me and I dont charge extra for it, but these swords will have a totally different production process that will make getting a satin finish more technically challenging and time consuming, BUT should look pretty awesome.

I completely agree about the satin finish!

Stonewash is a cool thing, but literally everyone does it these days.

Satin on such a large blade is literally a distinguishing feature and a real difference.

Plus, from my personal experience with knives, satin holds its appearance the best, and even after heavy-duty work, it stays on the blade.

Alright yall, we've been working tirelessly on this project for the last two months are are closing in on a launch. We have to get a few more modeling details finalized, but we are just about ready to go.

Here is the updated Bush Waki which we are calling the "Bush Waki Mega."

There were a ton of things to bring together on this project. Aesthetics, weight and power, center of percussion, and of course getting this all right at an affordable price point. I think we've cooked up something truly special. The drawing shows the center of percussion for the blade and handle as the two large circles and the point of balance as the small circle in the center. Basically, this thing should be able to do some seriously powerful chops with next to no vibration.
BUSH WAKI MEGA
.200 Z Tuff with low temper and cryo 61RC
24in blade
34in overall
Full coffin scales with steel guard, collar, and pommel.
Scale options- Terotuf, Micarta, Grip Tec (this is a new material we are trying)
Stonewashed finish default and belt satin available as an option at an upcharge.

The Bush Waki Mega has been upgraded to a 24in blade, 34in overall monster of a sword with a full coffin handle assembly, guard, and pommel. This is at the very outer limits of size for a Wakizashi and will be a complete beast that you can take into the woods and beat on while having a very elegant full handle assembly. The only downside is that to get the cost more reasonable on this model, it will not have a removable handle. I'm aiming for a base price of $1,100 but might get a little frisky and launch these for $999. I think the value at this price point is absolutely unmatched.

We are also closing in on the final details for the Tyrant Katana Magnum Opus which I will post shortly. It will be my personal masterpiece and will be available as a base model at what I think is a great price.

It was tough, but I'm going to make these with a different production method than the Katana that involves more hand work but drastically reduces the machining costs. I think its a great trade off.
