I do my best, nature photography is a growing hobby of mine, between knives, nature, and knives in nature, that's most of my photos taken with my phone thus far. I'm considering a DSLR camera, if I can ever afford one, to be an investment worth making for me.
Got my family (and thus, myself) a Nikon DSLR with two lenses and some other accessories for christmas....less than 5 bills at BJ's (I know, they're not a BF sponsor).....I was a Canon aficionado for years after I sold my Minolta X-700 35mm SLR (had it for more than 20 years) - but TBH, when I started looking at DSLR's, the Nikons had a much more functional button layout (i.e., AE lock under the shooting thumb where it belongs)....still figuring it all out many months later, but I'm really happy with it. Granted, it's not a pro level camera, but.....it has all the features one might need as a longtime (40+ years) amateur. Unfortunately, it was a gift for the whole family, so I have to wait in line to use it - my 15 year old is doing some great stuff with it, and I'm trying to pass on what I know about taking pictures. Only problem is that (surprisingly) it's not that portable.....but then neither was my Minolta, and that took several trips (with film and all the other shit) to the Southwest and Costa Rica, as well as several dozen hikes here in the White Mountains. Digital is WAY better, IMO - even though I miss my Minolta. It lets you do the thing Pros do, which, as my friend and professional photographer Bill used to say, "you have to use film like it's tissue paper....", is easy with the unlimited capacity of SD cards.
Really looking forward to seeing some of your pics, King. Looks like a totally beautiful area.
