Venting time... Really starting to hate some news reporters and journalists. Seriously. Some lunatic attacked two police officers with a machete in a Belgian city. Probably a failed terrorist attack. The two officers were wounded but are fine, not critical and the guy was shot.

Instead of doing some investigative journalism on the roo
t causes of terrorism, lunacy or whatever, the journalists of the main news platform in Belgium decide to dedicate a whole item on how easy it is to buy a large machete online. They didn't even bother going to the next door diy store where you could also buy them... And then their question is at the of the video: should laws for owning and carrying these blades be stricter?

What. The. Actual. FFFFfff....??? You are not allowed to carry these blades in cities anyway so the laws are already there.
You can't stop a madman with these stupid rules, damn...

Amount of deaths by machetes in belgium: 0, zero, nada, zilch. Deaths by car? More than you can count. Damn what a non issue. But it makes me so pissed they try to make an item out of it.

We feel your frustration over here, GShark, and sorry to hear about the attack.
Journalism across the entire political spectrum is complete bunk here in the US, with a few tiny tiny exceptions that really don't get much airplay at all.

Any reason you couldn't just "release the hounds" next time they're in your yard Woody; seems like that'd be a quick end to the problem…

Free honey, plus a chance of a stray chicken finding its way onto my BBQ? I wanna be GSO's neighbor ;)

I feel your frustration GShark, but unfortunately "shock" journalism and fear mongering by the media has become par for the course. Seems whenever there's a knife incident around here a piece runs calling for the banning of pocket knives in the city. I think the last time one of my friends asked me about it, my reaction was the same as yours; there are X number of auto deaths every year, shouldn't we just ban cars in the city as well? Some get the analogy, the rest just stop asking me.

Sorry for not quoting but it take me an hour to delete all the old ones lol.

GSO, it sounds like you care and actually try and keep them on your side. My neighbor sees them in my yard and walks inside His house. His fence is only 4 feet and field fence with 4"x4" holes in it. His gate has way bigger holes in it. He never closes his coop. He told me last year his chicken just go in by themselves at night.

If he cared, and tried, as much as you I'd be less upset. You sound like you got a good amount of security to keep them contained.

One or 2 stray birds getting loose occasionally is one thing. He only has 10-12 birds and they ALL come over at once. Lately everyday. I see him outside, he sees his birds and does nothing.

Aiki, i don't have a fence completely around my property. I plan to put one up eventually but i own a little over 2 acres and it won't be real cheap to fence. I have a 40' X 40' fenced in area. 6 foot privacy fence. My dogs go in there while outside so they don't wonder off. Neko would chase the chicken into the neighbor yard and kill it quick. Then he would have the right to shoot my dog. Then I'd go to jail for stomping a hole in him. Dogs chasing and killing livestock is ample grounds to kill a dog on your property here.

When i do put My fence up it will also be field fence. It would keep my dogs in But not keep chickens out. I don't think it should be my responsibility to keep his chickens out my yard. It's my responsibly to keep my dogs in my yard.

I bury my dog poop. I haven't once stepped in my own dogs crap... I shouldn't be stepping in chicken crap when i don't own chickens.

Still raining like crazy... Luckily the house is on the highest ground of my property. Flood warning still in full force till Tuesday.

My understanding is most developed countries have the same issues with their news media. It is incredibly frustrating.

I'm making some 710 hats real soon, I'll post a picture once I get the sample back. Also it's been a while since we made some Beckerhead shirts or hats, is there any interest in making more? Possibly a new logo pattern? I'd have to ask for permission before making them forsure.

All the rain has the gators coming out. I seen this guy today just a few miles from home, right on the side of the road beside a flooded ditch.

He isnt full grown or anything. His head and body was only about 3 feet long, but his tail was prolly another 3 feet long. Close to it anyways.

He let me get this picture from about 25 feet away or so. Then he slid back into the water.

You have to check with the law on that. IIRC, you mentioned that you were outside Anthony, FL (I may be misremembering that) in Marion County.
Marion County zoning ordinances include--

Hens must be contained within a covered and fully enclosed chicken coop from dusk to dawn and inside a coop and/or a fenced pen area the remainder of the time. The coop and fenced pen area must be located in the side or rear lot behind the principal structure.

There's other stuff dealing with chickens as well.

Sec. 14-33. - Citation authority and procedures; miscellaneous offenses.

(b) (1) c. Nuisance: Allowing animal to enter property of another without consent or permission and causing property damage.

Sec. 14-35. - Animal creating nuisances.

(a) The owner of any animal, except livestock that is located on the property of the owner, which habitually barks, whines, howls or causes other objectionable noise or which chases or runs after persons or vehicles, or which destroys or damages any property of another person or legal entity or which causes serious annoyances to a neighboring residence located within 100 yards and interferes with the reasonable use and enjoyment of the other person's property, or which is otherwise offensive so as to create a nuisance; or any person whom by feeding or otherwise encouraging congregation and/or breeding of feral domestic animals in an area designated as residential shall be deemed to be committing an act in violation of this section and shall be punishable as provided for in this section.

But cant find codes/rules specifically for chickens.

I used a google search "florida x-county chicken ordinance" where x-county is the county you're searching. In looking at Levy County, from what I see they have no specific chicken ordinance, but from what you describe, he is in violation of the ordinance you quoted.

You kids and your wild drinking and carrying on and such. Grab a bottle of Gatorade and a bunch of water.

Ate, then right after drank a half bottle of Jameson. Should have stopped there. Started drinking a Jack and Coke, and pretty much instantly got sick. Fell asleep on the front porch, woke around 3am, then went to bed. Woke up feeling so so, had to go wiz, went down the ladder feeling worse with every step, haha. Puked my freaking guts out.
