Unable to defend myself on negative feedback thread

Just when I think I know enough to go on the exchange this happens.

I would definitely be the guy who would read something wrong, not read something at all or screw up how to make an on line payment etc and end up in a multithread clusterf#*k.

Oh well, I will be happy to pay a bit extra and stick to mainstream retailers all the way for me.

If you are a man who can not keep his promise ... no, go use Amazon.

Don’t take it that way. I have had hundreds of great transactions here and elsewhere. This one went sideways. But, let’s face it the total exchange between us ran a matter of minutes; and I misread and contributed to the problem. But, it is not like I had someone fly out to Europe with the thing and stood him up.

If you don’t want to do business with me, that’s fine. But, don’t pass up the opportunity to trade with the many good people on this site.

It's always sad when a man demonstrates a fundamental lack of integrity and honesty.

not2sharp not2sharp has demonstrated the reason why he chose his name on this forum, that's for sure. He failed to demonstrate virtue and integrity and honesty and instead simply assumed he could screw a guy out of sale and not get called on it.

Well he messed with the wrong person. I will never put up with pathetic losers like him who limp along through life with their lies, their dishonesty and their fundamental lack of ethics.

But such are the times among us when a man's word is no longer his bond.

I've enjoyed all the snowflake puffery from the guys here who have little interest in the facts but are more interested in posting bullshit.

Pathetic losers all, but at least they've given me more names to add to my ignore list. So there is a bonus for me there.

I've always lived by this code

Melodramatic much?

Fantastic, thanks. Hey, sorry, but can you create a post in this thread and post what you said there? I failed to give you a link.

Which movie was it where John Wayne ran away and tried to get someone else to fight his battle for him? I missed that one.

I don't think this is against the rules, but it sure seems like both poor form and very much relevant to the conversation that Centuriator is attempting to recruit his past customers to post in this thread.

... not2sharp not2sharp has demonstrated the reason why he chose his name on this forum, that's for sure. He failed to demonstrate virtue and integrity and honesty and instead simply assumed he could screw a guy out of sale and not get called on it...

Considering that the Mods let both of you off easily, it is bad form for you to continue attacking the character of your opponent.

If this is the “Code” that you live by, please place me on your ignore list. I do not wish to have any business transactions with you.

I think character should have been looked at, not2sharp has been a member since 1999 that's over 20 years with nothing but positive feedback, the occasional mistake happens benefit of doubt should have been given.

Way too jumpy from the seller but it's all settled now and hopefully this will blow over and no one will remember in due time.

"Personal attacks"? No, you don't understand what "personal attacks" are, apparently.

The facts are there for anyone to examine. I chose not to simply roll over and get the shaft from this disreputable buyer. Others may choose differently.

If you are a moderator, then close this thread down if you want. I won't back down, and I won't go away. I can do this as long as you want. So...do what you will.

Otherwise, the facts are the man welshed*, then libeled me and is getting pats on the head from some sycophantic persons here. The man gave his promise.

*fail to honor a debt or obligation incurred through a promise or agreement.

I'm fully aware of a personal attack, that is to say a verbiage that is intended to personally insult someone that has nothing empirically to do with the fact of the matter, such as:

" not2sharp not2sharp has demonstrated the reason why he chose his name on this forum, that's for sure."

I'm not a mod here. Im just a member of this community that cares how transactions are perceived on the site, and you can't seem to get your knickers untwisted enough to realize a Super gave you a sporting chance not have a permanent scar on the code of your character. Yet you still tilt at windmills and wonder why no one is falling on their sword for your noble cause to right the injustices of a disagreement between you and a long time member.

Heres the thing, rail against this all you want, but at best folks are saying "well, yeah they both kinda screwed up >shrug<". At worst, folks are going to do a thread search before they do business with you and think that you're unreasonable to deal with lest not everything about a transaction line up to the stars you require.

I get the sellers payment methods were clearly listed but the seller needs to realize he's pretty new here with two transactions and that PayPal offers a level of protection many here won't do business without. This subforum is peppered with transactions that broke bad and reminders to never use F&F or you're likely out of luck, much less other lesser known payment methods. The buyer liked the knife, missed some of the conditions in his excitement (been there, done that) but took a chance with a fairly new member, had Paypal G&S been agreed upon there would have been no issue and a PayPal account is something that can be set up in minutes. I'd advise the OP here to be happy with no negative feedback on both sides, delete this thread, and in the future make an extra point to explain to any prospective buyers repetitively that he's not accepting Paypal. By repetitively, I mean make the first comment to his own threads, because that's where folks are going to look to see if anybody has "I'll take it" yet, not at the description, so much.

The facts stand. I was taking offers and I accepted your offer and you posted a firm "I'll take it."

You just guaranteed that no one who sees this thread will ever do business with you.

You don't take the buyers preferred method of payment. You were out absolutely nothing.

He have assured, though, that any reasonable member will not, after reading how you behaved, ever do business with you.

You threw a tantrum, and crapped the bed out of spite.

You are a solid add to my ignore list!! Any time I see a member behaive badly in a transaction I immediately add them to my ignore list.that way, I won't forget later and do business with them later.

Bro, the man missed something in your listing, and didnt want to use the payment methods you offered.
Let's not down play what the potential buyer did. He "missed" the most important fundamental thing in a sales transaction: the payment part.
He didn't back out of a promise. He said "I'll take it" on a message board and then backed out when he didnt like the payment methods.
That isn't what happened. Get the order of events correct.

Personally, both of you should have gotten spanked and the negative feedback left to live with. But that’s just me and y’all better be thankful the mods are being generous today.
Both of y’all acted like two school kids that dropped their jello in the dirt.
Totally agree. Both acted like fools. They should count their lucky stars, shut up, and move on.

You are acting like a baby. Stop.

Seems like you and not2sharp share in your inability to read rules and conditions when it really matters. He has the foresight to keep his mouth shut (for the most part) after a mod has ruled on the situation. You? Not so much. Take your deserved lumps and move on. Every single post you make in this thread only further hurts your reputation here.

Centuriator Centuriator It seems like there is a fundamental misunderstanding of how transactions are expected to go on this site. It’s not a Gunbroker or eBay for sharp things. As an “Individual Seller” you’re selling to a fellow knife enthusiast—one that you’re likely to interact with again if you both stick around. Not some nearly-anonymous bidder out of a faceless crowd of completely-anonymous bidders. I’ve had a member mail me a $300 knife before I had mailed the payment to him and another offer to send me a $200 knife so I could try out the handle before buying my own (he would pay to ship it to me, I would pay to ship it back). There’s an understanding that this is more of a community than a clearinghouse. It seems like you’re showing up late to the party and telling everyone how they’re doing it wrong and how you’re going to ignore everyone who doesn’t treat transactions the way they are on Gunbroker and eBay.

Having said that, I am much like you on the “I’ll take it,” question. After months of waiting/searching I found the specific variant of a knife I wanted at a price I could afford, I committed to buy one the moment I saw it on a thread. Only after did I see that he only took MO’s; a method I absolutely despise using. He had a long standing record of 100% positive feedback so I went through with the transaction because I had committed to it, but I am certain if I had withdrawn he would have moved on to another buyer without complaint (incidentally, another offer came in within a few minutes of my own). If you turn every negative transaction into hero/villain scenario and take to calling members dishonest and dumb, you’re going to miss out on a really great site as members block you even before interacting with you.

You’ll both be fine, just drop it and move on is my suggestion. I recommend close the threads and go on with life. We are now 75 comments deep on this thread and the people that lurk on this site strictly for the drama are having a picnic. Don’t let ego and misunderstanding turn this thread into food for people with nothing better to do.

My suggestion is to shake hands or agree to disagree and go on with your day. But I would definitely close the threads, or some of the drama-loving regulars will continue to swarm.
