I used to do some selling and trading here. Please dont let one bad deal ruin it for you. My views are this. I do not think that its required to refund or reverse a trade if you just dont like a knife for its style or you just changed your mind.

However, mis-representation is way different. A knife should be described completely down to its most minor scratch. A buyer should not have to ask for that, if you sell, you have an obligation to let the buyer know just what he is getting. If the knife is not as good as described, then a refund is in order, even if no formal inspection period is agreed on. Honesty and itegrity should not be part of some contract, it should just happen because its the right thing to do.

Rest easy Timmer....most folks here will do the proper thing because they are honest.

Thanks for responding. As stated earlier, I am only interested in letting others know what kind of a guy I think Jerry Roberts is. If he did agree to accept the knife back now it would only be because he got caught. I think I make a better point by refusing any further dealings with the guy. Kinda helps prove the point in my opinion. He had the chance to make the deal right. I didn't want to appear like I was forcing him to do the right thing. He never stepped up to the plate. After several emails where he continually tried to blame the condition of the knife on either me or the the great knife mystery, he finally agreed to pay for repairs. I DIDN'T THINK I WAS BUYING A KNIFE THAT NEEDED REPAIRS. Thanks for your interest to all that have responded to this thread and in Private Emails. I really appreciate it. It's gone a long way in identifying the good guys. Thanks for helping me sort it out. By the way, Thanks for the lesson Jerry.

No, Underdog, this isn't some secret group of friends ganging up on you. Rather, the posts above are merely the unbiased opinions of some impartial observers - a jury of your peers, if you will - who seem to believe that something about your story just doesn't seem to add up.

After all, Timmer has already stated that he will send the knife to Butch Vallotten for repairs. He's not trying to get anything out of this. He already knows you won't give him a refund so why does he even bother posting if what you claim is true?

No one other than yourselves will ever know with absolute certainty what really happened here, but the rest of us are free to listen to both sides of the story and respond accordingly. I, for one, would be hesitant to deal with you.
 
Jerry, this is not the outcome I was hoping for.

This issue remains unresolved. Editing/deleting your posts and leaving these forums won't accomplish anything and certainly won't further your case.

I sent you an email about Jerry and his MO. Too bad he got you. I have been putting up with nasty emails from him all week. He even tried to hijack a thread I had on another forum. The best thing you can do is just block his email address and go on with your life.
 
I've had two deals with Jerry, and they've both gone very well. I'd hate to lose a fellow leftie who deals in customs. I'm really surprised that things went bad for Timmer. My .02.
 
Jerry, this is the WRONG way to resolve an issue where a person's integrity and credibility are at issue. You KNOW this. It is the same as if someone challenged your integrity on the job.

The resolution of this matter is not to say F-it, but to take the appropriate steps to resolve this "issue". If something like this were to "pop-up" with my name attached to it, I would be jammed up real quick if the "Ethics Cops" got wind of it here in New Hampshire.

You have done many Deals, all honorable. You know exactly how to resolve this and I am at a loss as to why you have chosen avoidance, denial, and counter-accusations instead of just talking privately with Timmer and straightening this out. The fix is easy, maybe painful, but EASY.

A knife packaged correctly, and you certainly know the correct way to package knives, and what correctly packaged knives look like arrive in the same condition as shipped. Eventhough you did not explicitly agree to an "inspection period", you know that is the "ETHICAL STANDARD" here on BF.

Come on Jerry, we have "talked" a long time on BF and I count you as one of the good guys. Your love of knives is a known, and you honesty is a given. Why screw it up? Drop me an E-mail and I would be more than happy to lend you a hand getting this straight if you think I might be able to help. I sure do.............Ira:(

This is looking like a situation in which Jerry is not even going to be given a chance to try to resolve things. Timmer says that he wants nothing to do with Jerry and does not want him to pay for repairs or to take the knife back. At this point I fail to see what options have been left for Jerry.

Timmer, please tell us if there is any way that Jerry can resolve this problem for you. If not, he has been left without any opportunity to show that he is willing to work this out. Even if Jerry did not at first seem to be willing to take the knife back, I personally think that people deserve a second chance. Maybe this is something that Jerry is still not willing to do. He may well continue to feel that he is in the right in this matter. If that is the case then so be it.

First, I did not beg you for anything. You had to talk me into the trade. I offered you a trade and you said you wanted to think about it. A week later you emailed me back wanting to trade and we came to an agreement.

Second, we both agreed to ship by express mail and I did that. it is not my fault the knife took 2 days instead of 1 to arrive.

Third, I was and am happy with the knife. What I didn't like was you telling me how much you like Brad Duncan in private email (to get me to trade) and then slamming him in public. When I called you on it you started going haywire on me to the point that I had to block your email and ask the modertors at USN to keep you from hijacking my "for sale" thread over there. You started hurling insults without ever even thinking about my point. I honestly believe you have some anger control issues.

Your general behavior is childish. I am tired of dealing with it. I will freely admit that I have traded with you in the past with no problems, but you are obviously changing for some reason.
 
because i pay to... i buy the right to advertise.. i pay to do it here..
and on other fourms...
