Underdogizhere Got Me Good!

For the life of me, I can't understand why anyone would do business with folks who act in such a childish manner when confronted with a obvious problem. Nor can I understand why anyone would do business with people who refuse to offer an inspection period, especially those folks who can afford tens of thousands of dollars worth of knives, but can't be bothered with spending $79 on a scanner to make scans of the knives they're selling. Why would anyone buy a $500 knife from someone with NO picture and NO chance of returning it?

I also can't understand why people don't use the search function to find out about the character of the seller BEFORE making a deal with them. A simple GB&U search would have turned up several questionable deals with underdog, including one that sounds suspiciously like this one. There seems to be a pattern developing...

Also, why would anyone do deals with folks who find in necessary to delete their own posts? Why can't people stand behind their own words?

Remember, it's not the good times that bring out a person's true character - it's the not-so-good times!

Well, I suppose we are a bit biased against those who are caught in their own lies and continue to evade the truth.

Well all I can say is Jerry,all this deleting of you posts doesn't reflect well on your character.I know this Timmer is a new guy here,but usually you can tell when someone is full of SH**,and so far the doo doo seems to be seeping from your lips and not Timmers.Before you edited all your posts there were clear contridictions in your statements.You are a sad,sad example for Law Enforcement,if you really are a cop.I wouldn't be too sad to see ya leave,so take your sorry liar A** out of here!:barf:

Sorry Darkman with all due respect, that is too little too late a response from Dog to Timmer.Even if he accepted the 50.00,does this really excuse the flat out lying.Sorry man,not in my book.If it takes a royal bashing on the forums for someone to do the right thing,than they really don't deserve to be here.IMHO Take Care

Some people have been suggesting this thread ought to be closed (including some of the moderators here), but I am resisting that. Who cares if it's repetitive and boring ... people who decide there's nothing more to be learned from this can just stop reading it; that's easy enough as long as it's confined to one thread.
 
The whole thing makes me wonder how many other people Underdog took advantage of?

I suspect there are a lot of folks that would let it slide, or don't dare post.

I was warned early on -- "don't say bad stuff about Underdog or Jaxurman -- their friends will all gang up on you."

Sorry I've been away at work and I guess it's probably time for me to say something at this point. Cougar Allen, Thank You so much for keeping the post open. All of the guys who responded here gave me the arena to bring an unfortunate situation to other people's attention. That was my only intent from the start. Unfortunately I forged ahead on this knife deal with Jerry a bit too quickly and the deal was based on trust. Pretty much Idiotic and immature on my part. What can I say? I can only blame myself for that. Jerry on the other hand did something entirely different. He knowingly lied to me and then CHEATED me. Several people have said that I've left The Dog without chance to make the deal right. That couldn't be further from the truth. Upon receipt of the knife, I promptly emailed him and rationally explained the problems and the condition of the knife. He immediately denied it and accused me of trying to pull a fast one. The situation degraded from there. In our 3rd round of Emails Jerry finally stated that he would pay to have the knife repaired but that he didn't feel that he should have to. He was still trying to save face. I DID NOT AGREE TO PURCHASE A DEFECTIVE KNIFE AND I DID NOT FEEL THAT THIS WAS THE PROPER RESOLVE. I wasn't going to beg him to do the right thing. I felt that if I was dealing with someone this dishonest than any further action with him would only backfire on me.I didn't want to risk a total loss. I warned Jerry that if he didn't make the deal right then I would post on here and probably notify Pay Pal. He warned me not to and threatened me with civil action if I stated anything that I couldn't prove. Well, I told Dog that his word was no good, that he was a liar and a cheat and that I would have no further dealings with him. He was fine with that. So I had a Lemon, What else to do.....Make lemonade. I decided that even if I was foolish enough to get crooked I would do my best to help make sure that every one knew about Jerry Roberts. I'd like to tell all of you that I only did it for honorable reasons. That wouldn't have been the entire truth. I was pretty pissed! I also find it very insightful that Jerry didn't realize that he exposed his lies in his posts until it was too late. He then immediately deleted most of them. He also likes to portray himself as the victim in this entire deal. I can assure all of you that the deal went down exactly as I stated. I also understand that he had made some friends here and probably a couple of you are pissed about this whole thing. I'm not to blame...Jerry is. I would like to Thank everyone that followed this post and kepy an open mind and listened to the new guy without even knowing me. I sure appreciate it. I'm now in agreement that maybe we should start spending more time looking at knife posts as there's probably not much more to be said here. My opinion.

In my earlier post, I indicated that it looked to me that you refused to offer Jerry AKA underdog a chance to make things right and it seemed the situation was at an impasse. I even suggested that your posting to GB&U may have been in haste.I was trying to remain neutral and just giving my $.02 worth as an impartial party. In your latest post you indicate that it took several unpleasant e-mails before Jerry even offered some resolution to this problem. I see that I made an wrong assumption and would like to apologize to you for that.

Apology accepted but certainly not required. I didn't feel comfortable going into the whole thread unless I really needed to. I wished that I could have responded to each individual question and post as they came in, but the truth of the matter is "I couldn't keep up". Once again Thanks again to everyone for keeping an open mind and listening to the new guy! Special Thanks go out to the guy that let everyone know that Jerry is a Lefty. That Helped!

I have the entire Email thread. Are you really trying to convince me or are you just trying to save face. I guess I could forward the email thread to Cougar Allen. The problem is Dog you've just set yourself up to be proved dishonest once again. Every time you've posted Jerry you seemed to expose another one of your lies. I'd say quit while you're ahead but you've already made that impossible. If you truly don't understand that then I feel sorry for you. I think quite a few of the people who've followed this post were able to determine who was telling the truth and who was lying. You've been extremely helpful. Probably more than you have the ability to realize. Thing was Jerry $300 is quite a bit of money to me but not the end of the world. You thinking that you were smart enough to cheat me was a different matter entirely. That would have kept me up at night. I have 2 more things to say to you.......

#1.Quit!
#2.You lied again when you said you were going away. "NEWSFLASH" You're still here! You are not a man of your word.

Jerry, that picture of you being a baby and throwing a temper tantrum seems very fitting. Oh, that picture was not supposed to represent you, forgive me but it sure does seem to fit. You have used this picture to once again edit something that you had previously posted. With all this editing I have to wonder if you are concerned that what you are posting will be shown to be lies if you leave it for people to see.

I find this original post on the for sale forums to be very indicative of the rest of what I am reading on this thread. First the description of the knife as being 99.9% when it has a scarred thumbstud with a stripped screw that holds the thumstud on is not to me a very accurate discription of the true condition of the knife, even if that had been all that was wrong with the knife. Secondly, it seems from the above posts that it is quite obvious as to who put these scars on the thumbstud, but Jerry makes the statement, "where it appears to have been held with pliers" (underlining done by me). That to me sounds like Jerry is not exactly sure if this is the way the marks got on the thumbstud. He is just surmising that this is how these marks got there. It seems that Jerry is trying to hide the fact that it was him that worked on the knife.

It is also quite possible that in using enough force to break the loctite that secured the thumbstud, and to strip the screw that held the thumbstud in place, that Jerry did damage the opening mechanism and force the blade of center. This is not a certainty, but it is most definitely a possibility.
