This whole situation is very unfortunate. It is my opinion that if Jerry outright and purposely misrepresented the condition of the knife in order to cheat Timmer, then that is wrong. Plain and simple. But only Jerry knows this. I may have missed something in the 40 posts, but it seems that Jerry did offer to try and make the deal right, but has not been given an oppurtunity to do so.Instead he was given an "ugly" nomination in GB&U with no chance to salvage his reputation. This is the part that bothers me. What is it that he can do to make things right?
I do not know, nor have I ever dealt with either person in this dispute. I just feel that a post on this forum that could cause irreparable damage to a person's reputation should be a last resort when all other attempts to resolve a problem have been exhausted.
I feel that it should have never reached this point. I think that if somebody were to buy a knife from another person and received it in a condition that was unacceptable to this person, then the he or she should ask the seller for a refund or repair. If the seller outright refuses, then a post to GB&U as well as legal action should be considered. It just seems that this criteria was not met here.
Just my $.02 worth. Take it as you will. If I've stuck my nose where it does not belong I apologize.(I also do not know the content of Jerry's edited posts) I just hope that Jerry and Timmer can settle this issue in a civilized manner.

Gotta make sure you read the old "Good, bad, ugly" posts before you deal here.
Underdogizhere did the same thing to me -- misrepresented the knife, then refused to take it back. No inspection period.
Lesson folks -- INSIST on the inspection period. We'd all like to assume it's a "given", but it's not.
Mine worked out OK in the end, but I'd rather have not had to go through it in the first place.

folks, its real simple . you get the knives open the package , and they are ok or they are not ok . i would not want somebody opening and closing my auto for 3 days, seeing something come up for sale, and changing their mind . not cool . as for JERRY ROBERTS, AKA UNDERDOGISHERE - i did probably 10deals with jerry give or take a couple .always honorable . we did some haggling on price , but he always did what he said he would and the merch was as represented .those are my dealings with him .and yes , i would deal with him again .no hesitation he always was a man of his word in our dealings

Look guys, this whole thread is not about trying to get Jerry to make it right. After all, if he did lie, than it's already too late to make it right. It's easier to ship the knife back to Mr. Vallotten than it is to ship it back to Jerry who will then ship it back to Mr. Vallotten. Either way, it's a pain in the butt - there's no way around it, and a lie is still a lie.
The point of this thread is to establish whether or not Jerry Roberts, aka underdogizhere, is a liar.
Timmer said he received a damaged knife - a knife that had been messed around with and, among other things, had had it's thumb stud sloppily removed and reattached for left hand use. Jerry, a left-hander, denies having done this.
So, is Timmer a liar or is Jerry a liar?

Is that the point of this thread? I thought the point was for underdogizhere to display his character ... and for his friends to try to help him salvage his reputation ... and for him to respond to that by displaying more of his character ...
