Old School bad boy! ;) :D

Earl was definitely a bad boy! 😄

LOL......
That reminded me of this.....Speaking of bad boys....Goodbye Earl.....

The cops came by to bring Earl in
They searched the house high and low
Then they tipped their hats
and said "Thank You, ladies, if you hear from him let us know"
Well, the weeks went by and spring turned to summer
And summer faded into fall
And it turns out he was a missing person
who nobody missed at all

Again from our friend Bernard's collection, sailor knives, made in Thiers (Besset, Dumas) and sold un Spain.

These also were made by the same. For awhile fabrication of knives was forbidden in Spain, Thiers cutlers did not let the opportunity go.

I just realized my latest acquisition probably fits the category:

Sold as a “coltello Zuavo” - definitely nothing gentlemanly about this dude:
Paris-zouave-pont-de-l-alma.jpg
The most famous Zouave, now standing at the Alma bridge in Paris and giving the measure of the Seine's high water.
Today if someone asks you to stop doing the zouave, don't think he is flattering you ! 😺

Haha 🤣 -
I had to look that one up. Too bad I don’t have any opportunities to speak French anymore - I could definitely put THAT expression to use…

Of course, I just ordered the larger 21cm version of that same knife - if I opened it with a flourish in public to cut my doughnut in half or something, someone might say the same to me.

Unless one' name is Rambo, pulling this knife out of a sheath would likely be considered quite ungentlemanly 😅

And to think that the Buckmaster 184 was actually designed for military use 😱

But, big and over the top hollow handled survival knives were a thing for a short stint. Now it's mostly just a piece of American history 🇺🇸
Tradition evolves.

The Rambo movies had more to do with these types of knives than anything else.

Yeah, I bought one in the early 1980's. Think I gave it away.

I never got one back then, my only recently picking up the mint shape specimen I shared in the photo above. It's just a collectable to me, but, by gosh, they sure command a pretty penny in such condition 😱
I never had any real interest in them, but today I see them as a piece of Americana 🇺🇸😊🇺🇸
