Really I have had nothing but problems Postal SERVICE what a joke. This year they have lost or missed delivered 4 packages coming to me 1st one was delivered to a company 4 blocks away from my work address the only reason I got it was a lady there was kind enough to look are company phone number up and call me. The second one was delivered to my house the mail carrier thought it would be a good idea to just throw it in the hall and not even bother to ring my doorbell still haven't seen that one . The third one I spent 2 weeks trying to find it turns out someone there thought the zip code was wrong and hand printed a wrong one on the box only by the grace of god did I finally get that one. Last but not least was supposed to get a package today mail lady came and went nothing tracked it says notice left ? Notice left were not here been here all day. The person who sent me this one sent me a picture of the box before they shipped company name is right address is right city state is right zip code is right unreal . I might have to start insisting anybody I trade with use United Parcel .

My experienced has ranged from great to terrible - depending on whether my regular guy is on or a [] substitute.

I've had a couple of issues with USPS over the years, but I always received the package. I would have to say that my experience has been pretty good.

My experience with the USPS has been nothing but great. Staff at the Chino Hills office have been nothing but helpful and assisted me in well over 30 packages, 2 international with no hitches. Have not experienced any being lost or delayed unreasonably, and have received all packages sent to me arrived within 1 day of the expected date. Coupled with their cheap flat rate boxes, I remain a loyal customer of the USPS.

Sucks when things go wrong. But I have found USPS to be most reliable of the lot - not a single issue so far in the last few years. Every carrier has problems, so moving to a different carrier may not improve your experience in the long run. In the short run, yes, you may feel improved service though, but for long run, USPS is your best bet.

USPS may have terrible service and archaic methods, but they're by far the fastest for the price you pay. You really can't beat $10 to ship an insured package via airmail.

I must be the exception to there wonderful service I keep hearing about. I ship all over the world for a living for over 20 years when United Parcel went on strike we had to ship with the post office it was a nightmare . As far as using a different carrier at least UPS honors there claims besides that Fed Ex and UPS are moving there packages for them now so I say cut out the middle man.

Both of my folks work as rural carriers. My mom has done it all her life. Being a rural carrier is one hard freakin job. I dont think a lot of people realize this. I've been out on the route before and I would NEVER want that job. Constant flat tires, if its not snowing, its raining, if its not raining, its 100+ degrees outside with 40 mile an hour winds, and if the weather isnt trying to hinder you... constant flat tires or issues with a vehicle breaking down will. Stopping and starting over and over again with your own personal vehicle is murder to it, mileage reimbursement hardly covers just the fuel sometimes.

I cant speak for your carrier but I know my folks work really hard doing what they do, and they do it well. Most of the postal services issues stem from the fact that they are one of the biggest bureaucracies in America. Most of the folks who make the decisions are so high up the food chain they are immensely disconnected with real in the trenches life. Couple that with the government constantly stepping on toes and you get a messed up system. Also people do not realize what a physically and mentally taxing job delivering mail really is. Mental issues like depression and anxiety run rampant through carriers because of the job. The lack of consideration/correction of these issues by personal, citizens, supervisors, and other "high ups" causes poor performance in certain carriers who cannot deal.

I do not want to seem like I am attacking the OP or anyone else who has had an issue with their carrier, I know I would be frustrated if I didnt receive my mail either, but I assure you that most employees are hard workers with spotless records. It just always good to know and understand.

I really hope your issues get corrected promptly, and an intervention by your postmaster might be necessary although it is of little consolation. I wouldnt wish missing/loosing a package on anyone. I know what a sinking and frustrating feeling that is...

Best wishes.

As of right now I don't consider this lost and for once the tracking system actually worked otherwise I wouldn't know they tried to deliver all be it to the wrong address. Now I get to play the phone game with them hold for a minute while I transfer you to someone who can help you. Maybe I'll get lucky and whoever tries to deliver it tomorrow will actually read the address and I will be done having to deal with this again. I am not bashing any Postal worker it's the system I know there overworked the lady who just threw the package in my hallway felt terrible she's doing 2 routes. So this is a budget cut problem in my area by the way the post office this package was routed from is only 5 blocks from were I work?

I personally like USPS, UPS is slow as can be for there ground service and anything above ground services is expensive, unless it's a business address. Same with Fed Ex, there prices are ridiculous!! In my book USPS Priority flat rate boxes are the best.
Just my opinion though.

I've never had a serious problem with the USPS, and I ship and receive a lot of packages.

I find all 3 fine for packages. Ups being the most reliable. When it comes to mail...well that's a different story. If you happen to live in a dumping branch for flunkies who can't be fired like I do you'd see the dark side of the usps like I do..

I have shipped and received dozens of packages with no problems. (Knock in wood:) however, I think it helps that the packages are not being delivered to be in an apt complex. When I lived in an apartment, I always had packages sent my my parents house. But lost packages is why it is worth the extra little bit for insurance. Ups and FedEx are just too expensive to use on a consistent basis, and they are no better at taking care of your stuff.

My experience with the Postal Service has been good. Recently, we moved from Guam to Hawaii, and we found sending items by mail (both air and surface) to be less expensive total than any of the shipping/freight agencies we checked with.

This is a knife forum, so I should mention that I have shipped and received knives with no problems. I made sure, though, that the postal employees knew what I mailed and that the package forms were filled out correctly. The clerks were told that the items shipped were sporting knives or pocketknives. I did, though, ship a machete-like hooked Samoan dance knife with no problem; I explained that it is not a "weapon" and not terribly sharp. No problems. Of course, in a small town (island) the people get to recognize you and are pretty relaxed. I stayed within legal limits of what to ship, even though some items were heavy or awkwardly wrapped.

Doesn't it come down to the people in the end?

My regular USPS guy is a dream. It's only the subs who are a problem.

Every company can have personnel issues. After a string of good experiences with Amazon, three packages in a row were simply dumped on the ground next to my rural mail box out at the road with no protection from the weather - and were soaked each time. When I used Amazon's automatic follow-up evaluation, it rejected comments about delivery as not relevant to the product being purchased. So I have the solution. Stopped payment on No. 3. Perhaps I will now have a chance to communicate.

When DLS was trying to compete with USPS/UPS years ago, I had a series of packages go missing or get dumped in the snow out by the road (Uncle Bill was giving them a brief trial back then.) . One was buried for over a month until we got a thaw and I saw the yellow peeking out, Meanwhile, my regular USPS guy never missed a beat. Of course, little of DLS survived peoples' experience with their service.

In the past 25 years, USPS and UPS have lost my packages. FedEx, while not perfect, hasn't lost any of my stuff yet. I'll stick with FedEx for now.

When my sheath sales started growing pretty rapidly I started to use USPS Priority to ship the knives and my sheaths back to their respective homes. I decided I'd use them until they screwed up...................That was about sixteen years ago and I'm still gonna quit 'em when they screw up.....they just haven't so far!!!;)
