• All days: large regular sebenza (unique), Victorinox Deluxe Tinker
 • Dressy days: add Mnandi with giraffe bone inlay, hide sebenza
 • Weekend chore days: substitute Victorinox SwissTool for Deluxe Tinker, Spyderco Endura when I need agressive, full serrations
Favorite CRK folder: That would have to be one of Lisa’s uniques – so many to choose from! I’ll have to take a look at some of the images posted and modify this post later.

Favorite CRK one piece: Mountaineer II (specifically, the one in my 1st answer)

Favorite CRK non-one piece: NR Warrior

Most beautiful CRK knife: Might be AdamLukzak’s 2006 LE Sebenza w/ mammoth ivory bark inlays Devon Thomas SS raindrop damascus blade

Favorite Chris Reeve custom: Chris Reeve Misericorde (from the Reeve family collection -- I'm told that it is not for sale)

CRK knife you’d want, money no object: Sebenza, serial #1, re-conditioned as a unique, design similar to the one I find in answer #3.

The next CRK knife you hope to get: a LE small sebenza w/ mammoth ivory bark inlays

Most interesting CRK story: In 1990, I went to a knife sharpening demonstration by Chris in downtown Boise. I didn’t know much about his knives (or any knife over $50, for that matter), but I knew that they were relatively expensive, extremely well respected. During the knife sharpening demo, Chris took out a knife to sharpen, and as he did so, he said something like, “this is one of the best knives on the planet.” I was standing in back, so I couldn’t readily see which CRK knife (or other high end knife that was out of my fiscal reach) he was showing, After a while, I could see the knife that garnered such high praise – it was a Victorinox SAK! It was then that I realized the excellent, perspective possessed by Chris Reeve.

CRK knife you’d want, money no object: Said "Terripin Flyer" Turtle knife from above.

The next CRK knife you hope to get: The new folder they're coming out with.

Most interesting CRK story: I won a Mountaineer II off ebay once and the guy didn't want to sell it to me for what the auction ended at. He kept trying to tack-on extra "handling" charges and tried to get me to give him more money because "if Chris Reeve Knives finds out I sold it this low I won't be allowed to be a dealer anymore". Forturnately, I had the ebay rules on my side.

First CRK knife: Small regular sebenza bought in the summer of 1998 for $200 off these forums. It was actually my second knife purchase (first was a delica a month or two prior). I came to bladeforums looking to get the best knife so that's what I did.

The next CRK knife you hope to get: Mnandi with similar inlays as Adam's blue mammoth bark.

Most interesting CRK story: Waiting for my first sebenza to arrive that summer, 8 years ago. For those few days it was in transit I had trouble sleeping. I was a student back then and $200 was a lot of money. I remember a friend telling me, "you are going to be sorry you're going to get tired of it and there goes your $200." I was pretty sure he was wrong but I know now that he was indeed very wrong. I have stuck with this knife for 8 years and don't plan to stop any time soon, although I do carry and use it less often than I used to. This is only due to the fact that I am afraid of wearing it completely out because I plan to have this knife for the rest of my life.

This is such a cool story -- as much as I spend on knives now (20+ years into a career, and bordering on being fiscally irresponsible), I can't imagine buying a sebenza when I was a starving college student. Well, given skipping meals to afford the next better set of speakers is similar . . . at any rate, I can identify.

First CRK knife: One piece 7" tanto

EDC (even if it’s not a CRK): Spyderco Co-Pilot

Favorite CRK folder: Mnandi

Favorite CRK one piece: 7" Shadow

Favorite CRK non-one piece: Tanto with wooden scales

Most beautiful CRK knife: Pre Production Umfaan

Favorite Chris Reeve custom: Am not familiar with his customs.

CRK knife you’d want, money no object: One I saw at a gun show that looked like a Roman short sword.

The next CRK knife you hope to get: An "H" prefix sebenza.

Most interesting CRK story: I was at a gun show looking at a Cold Steel tanto. The dealer said you might want to look at this (CRK)tanto first. I had never heard of Chris Reeve, but I sure was impressed with the knife. There was only about a twenty dollar difference in the price of the CRK and the CS, so I made the obvious choice and bought the CRK. Since then, I have bought a fair number of fixed blades of various designs, and a couple of Sebenzas, a Mnandi, and an Umfaan.

Chris in not in the custom knife business any more, but when he carves out some time to indulge, he's right up there with the finest custom makers in the industry.

This 3 flute dagger has a very unique combination flat/hollow grind blade, crafted in CPM154CM. The handle sports Ti and 22 karat gold fittings w/ a braided rayon handle wrap. Blade length = 10”, overall length is 17”. He's featuring it at the Plaza Cutlery show this weekend. Some lucky person will take it home for $3000.

First one was the Large Regular still a favorite although right now the
Limited edition is my EDC.

I am new to the group but wanted to throw out my .02 on CRK.
I own only one, but it is priceless. It is a 7" Green Beret signed by Chris and presented in 2004 by US Army SOCOM to a small group of soldiers in thanks. While in uniform it is my EDC despite what it could bring in the collector's world. When I am out of uniform my EDC is a Benchmade folder that might draw some rolled eyes here, but another CRK equals about a month's pay to us enlisted folks. Maybe when I get my re-enlistment bonus...
Great Group and thread!

First CRK knife: Small Classic S30V Sebenza
EDC (even if it’s not a CRK): Small Classic Sebenza/Mini BM Griptillian combo 440C sheepsfoot (hate me if you want, but I still love that knife).
Favorite CRK folder: Small Classic Sebenza
Favorite CRK one piece: Tanto 1
Favorite CRK non-one piece: Warrior
Most beautiful CRK knife: The Mammoth and Gold inlaid Classic Sebenza
Favorite Chris Reeve custom: Impossible for me to answer that, TOO HARD!
CRK knife you’d want, money no object: One of the handmade Sebenzas or one of the REAL Yarboroughs!
The next CRK knife you hope to get: A large Micarta Sebenza.
Most interesting CRK story: I dunno, probably how the company came into being. Very good story, I'm glad CRK is around! My wallet isn't.
CRK knives you own: I've got a Small Classic Sebenza S30V, a Large BG-42 with Graphic, a Large Mammoth inlay Sebenza, a Tanto 1, and 2 Warriors (I think I'm going to send my user in for the camo finish if it doesn't sell).

Neil: That is awesome!! Do you have any other pix of Mr. Reeve's customs? I would LOVE to see more of his customs!!

Still waiting for those pix, Neil! I have probably only seen less than a half-dozen Reeve customs in pix (and only YOUR dagger in person, at the Plaza show), so I know we would all love to see some pix from you when you have the time to post them.

My first was a reg in bg42 about 8 or so years ago. A few more have followed since then, a couple more are in the works as I type. I just can't have to many.
