am I "in"?

I am an unoffical extreme fan.... I dont have a favorite though? well maybe my large ivory inlaid with decorated backspacer?

I'm a definite wannabe. I wannabe buying a small regular in either BG42 or S30V by the end of the year, and follow that up with a large regular in the same steels.

I am a newbie. Started with a Large Sebenza NICA Tanto 1 of 200 last year. Then I bought a Large Sebenza Flat Ground and a Large Sebenza Classic. My favorite is the Flat Ground. I would love to get an early handmade one some day.

My first CRK knife was a Moutaineer II #52, in 1990 -- still my favorite out of the 1 piece range. My first folder was a Sebenza, #184, acquired in 1993. The disease has gotten progressively worse throughout the years . . .

pics will be up tommorow. if the small r this small then the umfann must ne tiny, like a chive or something. it must look like its not real.

Thought I'd pick up this thread again, and do my duty as a member of the UCRKCC to promote its activity. (You did get my PayPal payment, didn't you stjames?)

So, to answer my own question, after wandering in the general collecting wilderness for a long time (probably since when I was 10, when I caught the knife bug as Dad bought me my first -- a schrade fixed blade for cleaning fish -- didn't use anything else for that task for 23 years until I bought my 1st sebenza), I decided to focus on folders. My collection is dominated by CRKs, but my other favorites are comparatively more froo-froo knives:
  • Scott Sawby -- "Woodcock" with Blacklip-pearl inlays
  • Koji Hara -- several . . .
  • Bill Ankrom folder
  • Frank Centofante folder
and a several factory knives, focused on "interesting" design.

Of course, like most of us, I'm limited in my purchases by a sometimes waivering sense of fiscal responsibility. However, I've also decided that much of owning a high-end knife is the experience of meeting and talking with its creator. As a result, I've vowed to not spend over $200 on a knife from anyone other than the maker. That's really limited my spending, and encourages my attendance at knife show. Most significantly, it's really enriched my collection for me, in that there's a rich story behind each piece.

Well, enough from me. What else do you collect?

Fooj, Great question.

I also collect custom frame lock folders and a very few production frame locks from other companies. Years ago only a few custom makers built a frame lock, now the field is full of them so you have to be more selective to find good ones. I own knives by Mayo, Onion, Cook, Carson and Obenauf, all great makers and fine fellows indeed.

But I always come back to the original and best, The Chris Reeve Sebenza.

My first CRK is also my dearest--because it was my first. My large Classic plain receives more pocket time these days than any of my other knives. This is mainly because my large Classic can handle more chores than any of my other folders, it is such a great knife to use on saltwater and freshwater fishing trips, and it is inconspicuous in my CRK black belt sheath at the office and on the streets of Long Island and NYC. CRK folders, Bob Dozier knives, Buck 110s and 112s, and Vic SAKs are all I need.

An unofficial collector, now in past tense, I do have the shirt though

Started out with a polished ats-34 bladed original, that now resides out west
some where, gracing a growing collection.

My favourite style right now is the small wood inlay classic, I had one for a brief period, just had a small micarta pass through the shop, almost enough
to bring me to search for one again!

But the one I will not forget is the Freedom one, nice lovely large Sebenza with wood inlay...

Newbie here, started some 2 months ago.
I have :
1. 1995 Lg Sebenza (Classic style)
2. small micarta sebebza
3. small unique graphic Night Sky w/ MOP

How I caught the bug ?
Well, I tried a Mnandi Ebony in person at Plaza Cutlery.
I ended up getting a small micarta sebebza. I like it a lot as a "rugged: as compared to my WHK.

The best part is I can take it apart to clean it.
So I am sold with CRK in general. But sebenza will always have a spot in my heart.

I was getting mostly WHK before smitten by CRK. Currently I have a pre-owned custom Mike Irie fixed blade from G2, CRK and WHK. But I will be expecting my Falkniven U2 soon.

So my exposure to knives is quite limited as a newbie.

I purchased my first seb in 1997. Since that time I have acquired 12 more. The interesting thing is that I also have dozens of custom folders from many of the top producers. I can't remember a day that I didn't have a seb on me during all this time. I still have a NIB lg reg seb that I have never carried from 1997!! Some day I just may give it to my son. No other knife custom or production has anything over CRK imo.

Being a real newbie, just recently purchased a large Seb Classic and a small Seb classic to go along with the large. But my first CRK was a Green Beret. All this in a period of two months. Hopefully, and financially, there will be more CRKs added to my humble beginnings of a collection.

I carry a large sebbie with BG42 steel. I'm waiting for the release of Pieter's design.
