Took a pic next to my #53, it gently narrows towards the butt so a new frame. Beautiful knife:)

Nice score, 'spam! The green variations of the Forest Jack were the quickest selling, I believe. They certainly have the most character IMO of all the colors offered. I picked this one up shortly after purchasing my black version:

As you can see, the two scales don't match well, but each certainly is beautiful in its own right. Enjoy your new purchase!

My blue camel bone arrived yesterday. Little more purple than blue but I am happy with it. Has one hell of a snap when it closes.

Thanks Marc

Greg - agreed, my scales don't match up perfectly either but they're beautiful in their own right.

JustinR - beautiful blue on yours too, Derrick has come up trumps with these!

and THAT is why knives are so interesting...everyone likes something different!

:D

Along the same lines-- something different-- kudos again for going for such a bold design with both these and the Bullet Jacks.

I'm chuffed with this one!

"Chuffed" is good, right? Taken it for a bimble, yet? ;)

I picked this one up shortly after purchasing my black version:

I really like those green-and-whites.

Well-chosen, guys, and thanks for the pictures!

I thought the stag would be the most popular but it looks like most have gone for the various bone. And can someone let me know the difference between calico bone and camel bone please?

P - Definitely happy, EDCing it today:)

Marc - Camel is type and calico is the way the bone is treated I think. Calico is cow bone so cleaner looking but with beautiful patterns. There are some nice GEC examples if you do a search.

P.S, P - has the blue beauty arrived yet?

^ thank you for that info Sam, I have not been able to find out that calico is cow anywhere. I understand that camel is more durable than cow? Not sure if the is 100% correct but I think I read it earlier in this thread. I am really liking the stunning pics everyone has put up for this knife, thank you all.

Marc--the calico bone is cow bone. As to durability, I would say, in practical terms, they are the same. In a lab the camel might have a leg up....so to speak. :)

P.S, P - has the blue beauty arrived yet?

Why, yes it has, no thanks thanks to you.

With another little something-something probably also now on the way.

Not Northwoods, however, so more will be revealed elsewhere. When it comes to the WLSTs®, I evidently remain incorrigible. Such weakness led me straight to the Northwoods Bullet Jack, however, so: no complaints.

Sam - are you still planning on convexing yours?

If so, I'm looking forward to seeing the results.

Marc - no worries, that's my take on it. Could be wrong! Rumour has it more camel boned versions may be in the pipeline....;)

Jwren - I convexed it yesterday, took a while but was straight forward. It's improved the cutting performance but the edge GEC have put on is respectable.

I'll keep my razor for now;)

Sam

Oops, just seen Derrick's reply.

P - now I'm intrigued.... I'll post some convex pic's later on:)

Sam

Not the best pic but you get the idea.

With this kind of grind you can simply lie the saber ground portion of the blade on the wet and dry paper and apply a little pressure whilst drawing the knife across the paper. The give in the mousemat means you keep an edge bevel but convexed. this type of finish reduces cutting resistance and is easy to maintain with a strop. it's how most hand sharpened knives end up anyway:)

I used 400 until a burr was starting to form then went up through 6, 8 and 1200 before stropping.

Voila!

If you haven't done it before you might want to practice on something else first...
