Upcoming Northwoods #54

Can any of you gents please post a size comparison of the 54 with a 73? I am finding it hard to judge the size. I am worried 4 inches might be slightly too big. I carry a 73 and 15. Just got a 42 but it is too big for edc. And please, keep posting more pictures of this stunning slipjoint.

That's where the pocket pouch should come in handy. It'll keep the knife upright:)

Looks like the liners are a touch thicker than the brass ones one the #53 too:)

I have a #42 (two blade version) and generally find it too big/heavy for EDC. But the Forest Jack carries VERY well for its size, and I was surprised at how light it feels (especially in pocket) - really, barely noticeable in the sheath...

Thank you jwren. I am trying to decide if I should take the plunge and that is the only concern stopping me.

Meant to also mention that the handle of the Forest Jack is pretty slender compared to either the #73 or #42, don't know if that influences your decision or not....

How are you all putting the forest jack into the supplied moccasin leather sheath? Do you put it in bolster first? Or put it in the sheath with the bolster on top? Just wondering. I carry mine bolster up.

Barry, that's a very useful comp.pic thank you.

Just got a Hound (Redbone) in today ( under a week from USA to Scandiland!) and the 54 really looks like it could be for my pocket, a not too broad handle. anybody have width&weight info please. Yes I can understand your quaint medieval measurements:D:eek:

Thanks, Will

Now that is patience. You've seen where I live?!:)

If it helps the ETA is Thurs....

Yes, I know that waiting feeling well, have you seen where I live!

I just want to make sure this 54 is not too big for edc. The 73 is perfect size for me.

True!

I think if you're happy with the #73 you'll be fine with the #54. I have a #53 stockman and it depends on the strides I'm wearing. Sometimes it's annoying if it lies flat in the pocket, this'll be where the pouch will be handy as it'll keep the knife upright. My complaint with the #53 Stockman is it can feel a little round in the hand, giving the impression it will roll. I'm sure other happy owners will chime in but I don't imagine you'll have that problem with the single blade #54.
