Update Re: Kyle Eichenseer

but I think this might have to be solved in small claims court, only problem is that it would cost Drdan more in travel charges and court fees than the supplies in question. I've read many of Drdan's posts, I actually skimmed through the thread looking for posts by both parties involved, only one from Mr Eich, and many from Drdan. I cannot come to a conclusion from the evidence I've seen, my opinion is that some funny business is going on. Email wise, for the international communication, I can imagine that some email is not being received by either party. But then I take into account that Mr Eich hasn't posted anything else. I have learned some valuable lessons here, one of them being that not only will I have to pay for a knife, but I may have to pay for materials also if I buy a handmade custom piece. I realize that not all knife makers are untrustworthy, but the materials fact was something I had not realized. I also would have explicitly asked for a complete bill of sale of the materials in question, good faith has not gotten Drdan these materials.

I too hope it is resolved, just my two cents.

Dan, I know it is highly unlikely, but any word from Kyle yet?

No news, and none of the paid for $150 worth of "additional supplies" have been received...

I wonder how long it can take to get someone something that is rightfully theirs? I would think that the months that Kyle has had would have been long enough. I guess what he posted about contacting Dan and working out something about what to do about Dan's damascus was just fiction.

I understand if the maker bought enough supplies for other peoples knives, but since he billed this guy for the supplies, aren't these supplies now his? Is there an unwritten rule among knife makers and their clients? I mean, c'mon. This is BS, I've seen some of this makers stuff in magazines, I'll steer clear of him.

That always reminds me of Airplane when the guy is trying to land the plane and Lesley Nielson keeps poking his head in and saying Good Luck. Even after they land.

Good Stuff. :D

Still sorry for DrDan not getting his stuff though. I hope he does sooner rather than never.

I would be interested to know where it is that you have seen knives made by Kyle. As far as I know, he is not a knifemaker. Instead, he modifies knives made by others.

I am still amazed that even though Kyle has shown himself to be far less than honorable (although at least he returned the knife), that other of our forumites who are also members over there still take a neutral stance and or back him up at all. I detect (dual forum members put ego's aside a minute) a fear in many of you as you feel it necesarry at all to either be neutral or defend him because you fear some sort of loss? I mean, what is it? Fairness? I think not. To be fair would be to side with the evidence. To be too forgiving would be, being a punk that will also eventually get stepped on by small men with big mouths. Those of you who defend his actions may think that you are in some way deflecting any future schisms with them over there because you "stood up" for your 'bro" but the current laws of physics would say other wise. Action = reaction, and everyone who chimes in for the bad guy will probably see a change in his or her own dealings. Not immediately but eventually. As well, you may find yourself on the banned side of the fence for something like Dan has suffered. If you are really interested in "standing up for what is right" then you'ld challenge Kyle enough to activate change at the other site. obviously it could use it seeing that this type of flaming and banning happens more often over there than anywhere else. And that's not because it's a "tuff, take no bull attitude type of place" that is glued together by the bonds of (internet) friendship. It's because it's their way or the highway and that isn't fair PERIOD. if you want to co exist in society or on the net or wherever, you have to offer compromise. Some of you are married right?! Well then you know compromise I bet. It's arelationship that a site has with it's members that should be well maintained as that's just good business and logical and fair. So, those defenders and neutral people here should rather take it to the owner of the site and Kyle himself and have this settled period to Dan's needs. that is democratic. That would be right and would keep people from getting banned for nonsense and keep others over there from jumping ship because they are sick of the drama.

RDT, it was an easy choice - a few little men made it really easy, especially with a ghost in their myst/ midst. I made the easy choice between "that other place" and being able to look in the mirror. I never looked back with any regret about which side of that mess I stand on and never will. (Besides, my wife tells me I'm easy on the eyes and I like looking in the mirror ;) )

I never have understood how a guy could call himself a man when he charges for tools to do a job he says he can do - if you are a craftsman claiming the ability, it's a fair assumption you not only have the skills, but also the tools or are planning on procuring them. If not, then be honest enough to admit you you were untruthful in the first place and move forward by returning the guy's knife and ALL the money, keep the friggin scraps and files, asshat! I guess I could see it of you were needing to rent a crane, those things are pretty expensive, but a set of files? How about a carpenter telling you he needs to buy a hammer or a saw? These are basic tools for the gig.

Zark 'em, let 'em have the little clubhouse. Dan, sorry about the money, the time, the aggrevation, and really, the theft of integrity. Too many good makers out there to let this be the last experience -

May I suggest going to a real knifemaker in the future - I can unequivocally recommend Pat Crawford as a starting place - not only making outstanding knives, but also a real gentleman and a scholar of his art. I will also recommend Mssr. Kit Carson, who makes an excellent knife based on my ownership of his work in the past and he has been at it a long time. Neil Blackwood also makes an excellent folder if you are looking for a knife with a D2 blade and original styling melding classic and new generation. Neil is a gold ole Southern boy and is on his way to becoming a long-term fixture in the knifemaker world as well.

Kit has been asking folks to get this resolved thruout this thread- in the end, it's not likely Kyle will ever man up and admit responsibility for this scatstorm, and after 300 public responses and 20 thousand views, he really makes his own point here.

Post number 297 in this thread now? Do I hear 298? 299? seven quadrillion?

Kit, you might want to take a look at the record you are playing; it is broken.

RDT, your comments are exactly on target.

Parker, good for you bro!
Code 3 Thanks alot. There needs to be change and those who can, should. Peace...R

RDT, when you get the chance, please visit this site..http://www.wordreference.com/definition/paragraph
I honestly had a hard time reading what you posted.

Code 3, it's the same record that Keith is playing. It's my opinion and I plan to keep playing the same tune with this thread. :D

Parker, thank you for the kind words.

Contrary to what a few of you think, some of us can continue to be a member of several forums without difficulties. To assume that we can pressure a grown adult into doing what you guys think he should do is simply ridiculious. I'm just a simple, old knifemaker trying to get along with other knife folks.

I hope this is worked out to Both parties involved. (notice that part about Both parties involved?)
